Not good. NAFTA and free trade have been a disaster.

UAB being the largest single employer in Alabama this is surprising.

Walmart has 42000 employees in Alabama. How many does UAB have?

This doesn’t really show anything other than the consolidation of healthcare employees in large systems.

UAB has around 27,000 I think and would be the largest single site employer. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire UofA system has more employees than Walmart now that UAB bought St. Vincent's.

About 1 out of every 100 people in Mobile, AL is employed at Airbus or a company who works primarily with Airbus.
Airbus also pays above the median salary on average.

Why don't they include government jobs?

BCBS SC covers/admins 11 states and also admins TriCare for the U.S. Military. They're huge (15,000 on their campus). Plus we have massive hospital systems here catering to the million plus retirees moving into the state. United Healthcare has a very large operation here in SC as well.

ZF Group: With approximately 147,797 employees, ZF Group is the largest employer in South Carolina. The company is a global technology company that specializes in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology.
Michelin: The second-largest employer in South Carolina is Michelin, with approximately 10,000 employees. The company is a tire manufacturer that has been operating in the state since 1975
This is the #1 and #2 in South Carolina. I wouldn't have guessed either one.

Isn't it just saying the top industry by employees in each state? Not the actual top employer.
