Not looking to break the bank but something to do during the day while the wife is at a conference.

We took a little trip out there a couple of years ago when a lot of our group couldn't make a big trip due to pregnant wives. We played at La Cantera, The Quarry, and Canyon Springs. All of them were good courses, but I liked The Quarry the best. The back nine is in a quarry, and it offers some cool shots. I don't remember it being very expensive either.

The Quarry and The Bandit are some of my favorite places to play. Bandit is a little bit of a drive out in New Braunfels. Cedar Creek just went through an entire renovation, but I heard it's always packed. Golf Club of Texas usually has good rates, and they have been working on the course, the past few years. Canyon Springs is another good one.

Those are all good recommendations. Also a short drive up I-10 to Tapatio Springs isn’t bad. A decent course that isn’t very crowded on weekdays; just call ahead to make sure there is no event happening.

Went last year for work and played Quarry and La Cantera. Really enjoyed both and were both in good shape.

It's a bit of a drive, but I hear good things about Windswept Dunes.

Sorry.

You don’t want to play the quarry in July or August. It’s like an oven down there

That's a good point that I didn't think of. We played in March. It was very pleasant.

The Quarry this time of year is an oven.....avoid it unless its winter, spring or fall. LaCantera, Canyon Springs and The Bandit are better options and if you play da LaCantera don't forget to go eat at Palenque Grill ...great Mexican food!
