It certainly explains why lots of truck drivers drive like they have no idea what they are doing or where they are going

Don't you have to read to get a CDL???

If they can’t read Dr Seuss, how can they read a lot lizard’s rate sheet?

No shite. I’ve known some dumb asses that had a CDL but at least I think they could read.

It could be. Some states allow you to take the written portion of the CDL in Spanish. However, you must be able to read English signs and must be able to communicate and take directions in English.
So this person could have literally passed the CDL in his state, had the license, but it be deemed invalid if he can’t communicate in English.

FMCSA regulations provide that a driver unable to sufficiently read or speak English or understand highway traffic signs and signals is not qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle. However, in 2016, the Obama administration directed inspectors not to place CMV drivers out-of-service for such violations. The failure to adequately enforce driver qualification standards poses serious safety concerns and increases the likelihood of a crash.

You guys laugh, but half of Dr Suess's words aren't even English.

That's fricking retarded. We have truck drivers reading Dr. Suess in order to keep their CDL now?

Illiteracy makes our country stronger or something.

Had an incident with a truck driver who couldn’t speak English a while back. Guy spoke Russian. We had to get the Google translate out and it was still pretty bad. Called his dispatch. Broken English at best.
Huge pain in the arse. He lived on PA. No idea how he got a drivers license.

I deposed a truck driver that killed a 20 yo ULM student on I20.
He was legally blind. Got his CDL in Parchman, that’s the state penitentiary in Miss.

Overall, I believe about 1% of what I see on Twitter nowadays.
That rate drops to 0% if the person posting it has a bunch of emojis next to their name.
