Cali police used drones to monitor and fine people shooting fireworks

California residents who launched fireworks for the 4th of July have tickets coming in the mail, thanks to police drones that were taking note.
One resident, for example, racked up $100,000 in fines last summer due to the illegal use of fireworks.
"If you think you got away with it, you probably didn’t," said Sacramento Fire Department Captain Justin Sylvia.
"What may have been a $1,000 fine for one occurrence last year could now be $30,000 because you lit off so many."
Homeowners who weren't even present at the property also have tickets coming in the mail due to the social host ordinance.

My suppressed .22 would have fun with the drones. It has the the muzzle piece that doesn’t show the muzzle blast. Kind of a fun toy that i had built.
Quietly hide from in the house and start picking off drones.

They won’t stop illegals and criminals, but they will stop fireworks

Probably has something to do with not wanting explosives set off after a quarter of the city burned down.

So, if you aren't home and the drones see someone in front of your house shooting fireworks, you get a fine letter in the mail?

just shoot off fireworks at neighbor (who you don't like) that isn't home

Plenty of residents have lost property and homes, plus national land preserves because of fireworks.
If you light em off in a state that is prone to burning, you deserve a fine (and the restitution if you start a fire)

Enforcing the law is bad.

Considering the problems they have with wildfires, it’s probably a good idea not to shoot fireworks

Agreed.
Have the elected officials taken care of the other precautions, you know, like making sure water can get there in case of fire?
Rhetorical question. Not expecting any honest answers.

No idea, I don’t live in California

A lot of poli types in this thread ignoring reason and spazzing because it's California.

We actually do know the answer.
BTW, the state will now use your tax money to build "affordable housing" in the Palisades.
Newsome announced this yesterday.
Great news for citizens there.
