Haven't seen an LSU Course update lately. Anyone been?

Went maybe a month or two ago: awful.
Main guy said they told him they are eventually putting some kind of all purpose arena/conference spot there at some point.
No time table but the course is shite

was a fun place to play as a student.
How a school with a very well respected Turf Grass program has a shitty public course is beyond me.

I always love a good deal but a $25 round there is absolutely not worth the trouble. I played my last round there last fall and I'm fine with that being my last round there ever.

I've heard it's terrible and it's a shame.
I held on for a long time hoping that they would reinvest in it. I miss playing there. It was nice just to use the range to hit off of grass but I find it hard to go there even for that.

Just another public course in BR that's gone extinct in the last 20 years.

I have went to hit at the range a few times in the last 3 months. Twice I walked in and they told me they were out of range balls and weren't getting anymore. They truly don't care about the course at this point. Will be a new arena soon enough.

When I went the place was empty but their “tee sheet is full”

It's actually playable right now. Greens are decent. They going on business as usual until they are told otherwise.

Just awful and unacceptable that a university like LSU has let its golf course decay this bad. 35,000 frickin students to access one of the worlds greatest sports?
It chaps my arse that a well planned golf course could act as a green belt protecting campus from the neighboring hoods on the north and south side of campus if master planned.

I mean this has been the rumor since I was a student back in 2008, although the course was really good back then for a college kid at least. The rumor was it was going to get turned into a parking garage.
It’s an embarrassment at this point, shut the thing down and develop it like you’ve been “planning” for 20 years or fricking keep it presentable.

The point people are missing in all of this is why would the university or someone put up big $$$ for a golf course that will get tore up by drunk college kids not taking care of it like they are supposed to.
In my handful of times playing it in the past 15 years, I was always met with tire ruts in the fairway (likely because someone went off the path during cart path only) and divots all over the green.
I understand the frustration, but it just isn’t smart to continue to put money into that place when students are tearing it up. If you are not a student and are playing out there, you have plenty of better options elsewhere.
