At what age would you start a kid in tennis lessons? We have a kid who loves hitting tennis balls but I never played and wasn’t sure if 4 is too young for her to absorb starting to learn technique.

They are starting that young around the would bro. Why do you think American kids hardly go D1?

Get them in a local kids tennis camp. My kids both did it and had a good time. Also they play tennis “games” rather than trying to actually play which builds skills and is fun. You can see if they like it.
4 is fine but the camps have designated age groups so you an use that as a gauge.

My kids started taking lessons at 5 and doing tennis summer camps. It's impressive how quickly they can learn technique at that age

4? You're way too late for her to ever be one of the greats. Best you can hope for is getting on the high school team.
