Two of the worst traffic lights in Baton Rouge are on Old Hammond and Government.

1. Old Hammond Hwy/Chevelle Dr.
There's a small church and an scarcely used residential street (Chevelle) vs. a fairly major highway. It's not even a true four way intersection.
Even worse, if you're heading west on Old Hammond you have to wait for an arrow for east bounders turning into Chevelle every time (there are usually zero)....but on you wait....

2. Government St. and Community College Dr.
Same exact scenario, but it's in no way a four way intersection.

Both of these lights should turn red for Govt. and Old Hammond roughly every 3-4 minutes, and both green lights for the side streets should last no more than 10-15 seconds. Additonally, there should be permanant flashing yellow arrows for those that need to turn onto Chevelle and Community College Dr. when the east/west main roads have a green light.

-----
More: You can't turn east onto government from S. Foster without catching the BRCC light!!!!
LAST: Why do so many lights not account for day of the week (Sunday) and time of day (8:00 PM - 6:00 AM)?!?!?!?!!?

I'm sure there are dozens, if not hundreds more...

All the money was spent on red light cameras. No money left for synchronization. Sorry. Government efficiency at its finest.

This is bull shite:

Here are just a few that grind my gears.

Sharp at Old Hammond headed south. The left turn arrow lasts like 8 seconds, and someone is usually staring at their phone, so 2-3 cars get to make the light.

The left turn arrow into Costco on Airline. Also lasts like 8 seconds.

South Harrells Ferry and Sherwood. It backs up massively south of the intersection on Sherwood. This light is all out of sync with the one right past it at I-12. Morons making a left turn off of Mead Road routinely block Sherwood making the turn when they can't fit.

The first time electricity goes out, the sync would be off by hours. We'd get the 3AM-6AM schedule instead of the the PM schedule.

Remember, it's City of BR employees who would be responsible for those light timers.

We live off of South Harrells Ferry so unfortunately I deal with it daily.

What's odd is about 6 months ago it was synced up properly for about a week, and it was 10x better and then it was reverted back. It made no sense.

Any time the electricity goes out, they'd have to send someone to reset the timer.
City of BR is probably using this for a timer:

If you are on Broussard trying to cross Acadian Thruway during non-school zone hours the green light lasts 10 seconds allowing only about three cars to pass through before turning red.
Ridiculous

Might add 30 seconds to my commute in the afternoons if I catch it. But I agree with the blinking yellow turn arrow. This light probably helps keep traffic from bunching up at Tara and/or Drusilla more than it already gets most days and allows some breaks in the traffic flow for people to turn off of Brentwood.

The person who set up that left turn light needs their arse whipped. And no idea how it’s gone decades at this point without being adjusted longer.

Turning left from Industriplex onto Siegen is the worst.

There's a good chance you have to sit through 2 light cycles at peak times.
If you do get through on the first try, you'll be greeted by another light that's always red at the Target intersection. Then you get to fart around at another light at the Racetrac and deal with the long line of cars trying to get on the interstate.

I almost always arrive to this light not long after it has turned red. I will turn right onto Siegen and make a uturn, which is extremely easy b/c of how the lights are timed as no one will be coming. When I do this, i hit every single green light down Siegen and i'm on the interstate in less than 30 seconds from the time i turned right from Industriplex. If i sit there at the light waiting to turn left, it's a good 4-5 minutes before i'm actually on the interstate.

You must be facing north when you are on S. Foster. I'm coming from the opposite way going south, and I rarely hit the BRCC light that way.

My additions are North Blvd & 19th, North Blvd & 22nd, and Govt by Curbside and Calandro's. The first have horrible sequencing that takes forever. The last one doesn't take very long, but it constantly turns red with no one on the cross street.

I skip it. Turn left on Steele and catch the light at Broussard.

Perkins and BB sucks arse too. Made even worse when the people turning left onto BB from Perkins just park in the intersection with no where to go so then no one can move. I wish they’d start ticketing the frick out of people that do it

I'm glad I'm not the only one to get angry about the Chevelle Dr. light. Burns me up every time.

Actually I meant the Broussard light not the Claycut light. The Claycut light is probably three times as long.as the Broussard light with much less traffic
