There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of any motorized vehicle while drunk or impaired. Those persons should be arrested and have their vehicles towed.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes. I have no sympathy for anyone with a DWI or DUI charge.

I understand. But the real problem is how many times did they put lives in peril and not get caught. A person with like 3 of them probably should have 50 but just got very lucky…

Especially with Uber and Lyft.

Not necessarily. If a sober spouse or friend is in the vehicle the officer might let them take the vehicle home. That shouldn't be an option or courtesy.

If they eliminated that law then there would be no more DWI/DUIs

Ever think of that?

True, but 0.08 isn’t drunk. It’s revenue generating for the state.

Funny how they claim this is for public safety when the folks arrested are the only ones who can afford to pay.

Sometimes its too inconvenient to have to go back and get your vehicle the next day when you’re all hungover

Penalties need to be more severe. Zero excuse for someone to drink and drive.

If this wasn't a fundraising operation by each sheriffs dept I may be more inclined to agree with you.

Hard agree.

I am on the extreme side of this spectrum, though. Self-driving cars cannot come fast enough. We do not need to be wielding these things, we're too irresponsible and impulsive.

I think one thing people gloss over is the fact that self-driving cars will be much more efficient than humans being behind the wheel. Red light where everyone take 1.5 seconds to let off the brake? No, the cars will start moving in sync. All cars will talk to one another. 45 minutes commutes will be split in half.

I see too many frickheads in big arse trucks tailgating shitty BMW drivers with no blinker. I'm actually sick of it. Most of us do not deserve the privilege of operating one of these things. Don't get me started on the early 20 something males driving 18-wheelers like they're invincible.

I think if you get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle impaired, you should no longer be able to drive. Forever. That's a wrap.

It's still impaired driving, and is putting others at risk on the road or water.

It's always someone elses problem not ever the person that chose to drink and drive. They never take any responsibility. You know .08 is the law. Call Uber, Lyft, taxi, friend, or anyone else SOBER TO DRIVE your STUPID ARSE home.

First time I kind of get. I don't think blowing a .09 once should completely ruin your life.

Second time should come close to ruining your life, third time you should be in jail for a while.

True statement, however that is 4-5 drinks for a standard size male over a 2 hour period. If you are drinking faster than that, than you are not being a social drinker and looking to get drunk .

Two beers an hour for two hours is not trying to get drunk

I have no sympathy for anyone who gets a second, or a third, etc. Anyone can make a mistake once. Once you make the mistake, you then have no excise for another.

I have nothing against going to dinner and having a drink. But for some, drink 1 beer and you may be impaired by the law. It’s not like we can test our BAC after we go out to eat and before we drive. Now, those who go to dinner and drink 4 drinks….i don’t feel sympathy for.
