Why does this page even still exist? Or any page like it?

There's no such thing as college football recruiting anymore. At least not at the D1 level. The fact we still use words like "commitment" in recruiting conversations is just hilarious. I mean heck, the word was never completely real even in the past but today, nobody alive is committed to any team. NOT EVEN IF THEY ARE ALREADY PLAYING FOR YOUR TEAM!

There's a reason not a single professional sports league on the planet has 100% free agency. It can't work.

College football will either figure this silliness out or it is completely doomed in our children's lifetimes.

Still have to talk about who we getting. It’s kind of like asking why we still watch the games. Maybe we won’t eventually.

I think it’s fun. It’s the best example of free market economics where labor commands nearly equal power with those that control capital.

If you can get over the emotional trauma of seeing your favorite players turn away from your favorite team for the pursuit of their own self interest, you can see the exciting drama and chaos unfold before your eyes.

Talking about sports is fun. As a fan, I like to know as much about our teams as possible. I come here to learn about prospects. I like watching tape on prospects I’ve never heard of. I understand that not everyone enjoys doing that like I do, but I love coming to this page.

How? frick, I don't assume we have a player today unless I actually see him on the field on Saturday. Dude could change his mind on Friday.

You don’t have to assume we get someone. But we will have a class eventually.

But to answer your question, there is still recruiting, it just takes a different form now and some of the same things come into play (including money, it's just out in the open). Some of us are interesting in who they are pursuing and what our odds are, and would like to discuss it occasionally.

This used to be a place where most of you retatds didn't pup up very often. That is the change I am most displeased with is the the board at large has decide to start frequenting this particular forum.

If you don't like this page, I would advise just staying on the soccer board.

You’re 100% wrong. In reality college football has increased because you have to recruit more players every year due to transfers. So go tell your lies somewhere else. You wake up early Sunday morning with bullshyt on your mind, so sad

Don't take my post as disliking this page. I used to love following recruiting. It just feels like it's completely unnecessary now. This site's a great site all around

Business recruit new talent and use compensation packages as one of the main ways to get them.

How is this a new concept to y’all?

Since when did the word “recruiting” imply “no money”?

I don’t love the new landscape of college sports that much either but this argument is stupid, brother.

Ah yes, more complaining about the word commitment, just what we needed.

I'd glad the kids are getting paid. It's long overdue. It's the compensation with absolutely no restrictions that I have a problem with. There needs to be contracts and repercussions for breaching said contracts(for both parties) I mean, we've seen kids sign with a school in December and that same kid jump in the portal 3 months later. There's got to be ways to reel the shite back a bit. I miss it. I miss celebrating commitments, but you simply can't do it in the state that it's in currently.

1. Not EVERY kid takes the highest bid. Out of several high bids, your school may be among them. Sometimes though, there are some bids that are far too outrageous to pass up.

2. How in the HELL do people not consider this recruiting?
Have we forgotten jobs do this exact same shite if you're a highly talemted person in your field? You telling me there aren’t companies that offer talented guys exceptional packages to get them to sign on to their companies?

3. Some of you act like 5 year olds. Sure the thing is called commitment, but until you sign on the dotted line, you're not obligated to stay for shite. Basically you have a bird in the hand as the person doing the recruiting. Just like you think you have a deal (a handshake agreement) or a person locked up at a company, if they haven't signed anything, they can be taken right from under you. Coaches have done this same ish.

4. If your mind can't adjust to the new way of building a roster which is basically a hybrid of NFL free agency and traditional college recruiting, you might want to stop paying attention to it.
