We have a trip scheduled for a week near New Braunfels to tube the river a day or two and see some things out there..

For anyone near the area, do you think the Guadeloupe River between Gruene and Canyon Lake will be open and clean or full of mud and debris?

I can cancel and divert to somewhere else if the recent flooding and tragedies will still be ongoing.

Praying for all of the families affected by these storms and flooding.

The river will probably be down but still very high and fast. But there will be debris and crews out there cleaning up and I would imagine they may not allow tubers on the river when there is potentially still missing bodies. But I really wouldn't want to go have fun in a spot where a tragedy took place the week before

I can only imagine how jammed up the hotels and restaurants will be with people who lost their homes and rescue/recovery workers

I'm nine days out from my trip to the area. I haven't heard anything, positive or negative, from the rental company yet. To feel like less of an a-hole, I'm going to wait for a few days to ping them. I'll let you know what they say mid-week.

Thanks. I'm following "Texas Tubes" on facebook and they are giving some pretty good updates / info for the areas rivers. They said if there is no more rain between now and next weekend, the waters should be clean and good to go.

Why in the world would any sane person actually be considering a trip down there? Stupid

I've had this booked and planned for 3 months. I couldn't predict the flooding. Home owner said that everything for this coming up weekend looks good for vacationers. I was asking for input from people who know the area.
I also have friends at Canyon Lake that we were going to meet up with. They also said it'll be clear by the weekend.

Rental agency confirmed this morning that next weeks stay was canceled. I wonder if the houses even still exist.

yeah the river is currently a morgue. I think I’d reschedule to someplace a little less horrible

What’s your problem? I’m not disrespecting them. I was asking if anyone here close to the area had any information near new braunfels location

What’s the radius that you think a family that booked a vacation to the area months before this should stay away? 100 miles? 500 miles? And how long? 1 week? 4 weeks? A year?

One problem is that it's still raining upstream, towards Fredricksburg to Ft. Hood. While that's not really anywhere near New Braunfels, it can be upstream.

Keep an eye on tubing the Comal. It’s spring fed so it may recede faster.

There’s still plenty to do in the area without going tubing. You may need to look into things you can do in Austin and San Antonio.
