The club has gone from delayed payments to His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in 2023 and 2024 to players, coaches and staff now not being paid on time in both May and June.

They are now under three English Football League (EFL) embargoes, one relating to unpaid players, one to a further issue with HMRC and, on Thursday, a third one for failure to pay transfer fees.

They are under a registration embargo preventing them from signing anyone, even free transfers, until the outstanding wages are paid in full and can not make any transfers or loans which involve a fee for this summer's window and the two in 2026

Organizational death penalty is about what all that adds up to… Sad to see.

They were my wife's family team, and were my first taste of English football. Sad to see what has happened to the club.

What’s wrong with Wednesday? I used to get “mystery kit” boxes online and my very first kit was Sheffield Wednesday

More updates yesterday
The team currently has 15 players with more leaving as they arent getting paid

No manager

Players are refusing to play, leading to the cancellation of a pre-season fixture against Burnley and a risk that the opening league fixture against Leicester City is called off

Players have been informed they will have to pay for their own hotel rooms if they wish to stay overnight before upcoming away matches

who isn't in the English leagues, not named the EPL?

Many of the teams in the championship to national leagues are bleeding cash, or in cash trouble.

You can blame the clowns who run the FA, for this. They have done virtually no back ground checks on many of these owners, and many had very little cash, and had floated lies and fake accounts. Many of these Clubs who got new shite owners, and floating loans, because if the fans actually knew about their owner, they would riot, that he was even allowed to buy them

Terrible owner(s) running a once reputable club into the ground - sad to see for the fans, but well deserves for those scumbags. SWFC has been mismanaged to the hilt for 20+ years.
