I think "pooled risk" to Whoopi means that every time she gets into a pool she's running the risk that someone might have peed in it.

From a dumb-arse who was so ill 18 months ago and had to take so much time off, people thought she was off the show.
Whoopi (the original Karen) Goldberg has used more 'health insurance' than my immediate family (4), and my parents (one whom died last year) has in our lifetime.

Has someone explained to her insurance is legal gambling.
You buy insurance betting something bad happens. The insurance is betting nothing happens. i.e. With home owners insurance something bad happens like the house burns down from a fire, you get paid. The house doesn't catch on fire the insurance company keeps the bet.
