Heard this on NBC news.
We've come a long way from "we have to pass it to find out what's in it", right, Dems?

Only because most of them can't read.

Translation: “Y’all go spend some time reading the bill aloud while we figure out what the eff to do next “

This unironically should be a rule for all bills passed. So congresspeople can't play dumb when questioned on something "I didn't have time to read it!"

I'm not against this, but the hypocrisy is stunning, yet typical.

It’s good to see our Public Servants giving up their Holiday to help us.

Go hire John Moschita to read it out.

Only if we can go back and read the bills they passed out loud and compare.

This is probably the only method and time that Senators will actually know what's in the bill before voting. AT 3:15 am, however, the only Senators in attendance will be the ones who are at the lectern, reading the bill. I actually wish this was required for ALL legislation. Yeah, yeah, I know this is just a delaying tactic by Schumer.

Sounds great let’s do it everytime and start it now

Is a member of congress required to read it allowed? Or can they have AI read the electronic copy of it out loud at something like 50x speed?
Realistically, they really need to shorten all bills and they should all be read aloud. But since this is just a delay tactic then the Republicans should find a way to do it while also saying “frick you.”

This.
And a quorum must be present to hear it.
I like it!

Won’t get a chance if they get power again….

I am 100 percent on board with any legislation being read out loud.
I agree with Elon. Any bill should be available for public review for at least seven days b4 a vote on it.

That's what Thune should do. Immediately bring a 1-page bill to the floor stating that all bills must be read in full on the floor by the parliamentarian before being voted on.
Pass it, get the house to pass it Monday, then have the president sign it immediately. They can start reading and vote on the BBB by Friday.
And every pork laden bill, like the Big Bloated Bill, can be treated the same in the future.

There should be a rule stating that a vote can't happen before a certain amount of time based on the number of words and the average reading speed. Limit it to an 8 hour day of reading and subtract the amount of mandatory breaks as defined by federal regulations

They want to make sure it doesn’t get passed by July 4.

Yes... and I think a lot of people would be fine with ceding that "win" if the bigger picture win of making the practice a rule, law or whatever, was adhered to in all future legislation.
