quote:

Omar Serna is a 2025 C/RHP/3B with a 6-2 225 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Dobie. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout. Primary catcher, gains ground coming out of the crouch with some explosiveness to actions, obvious arm strength and carry down to second base with accuracy to the bag, repeats actions and receives it well out front. Some bend at the waist in the infield, shows ability to change slots, arm strength across the diamond, will continue to refine actions. Also pitched, side step into a leg lift at the belt; long and loose arm action through the backside with present arm speed working to a high three-quarters release point. Short stride and lands online coming down the mound, fastball topped out at 94 mph and jumps out of hand. Lived low-90s, showed a mostly horizontal shaped slider up to 79 mph and able to land it in the zone. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing, looks to lift and shows serious strength at the point of impact. Long and loose stroke through the zone, gets the barrel head out front and made the field look very small at times, went out to deep, deep left-center and center field. 102 mph exit velocity in test. Loud tools across the board. Very good student. Verbal commitment to LSU.

2025 signee. I’m assuming this means he is taking himself out of the draft and coming to school. Great news!

He is a good get and not rated as highly as a few of rhe other signees but a good kid to bring and compete for backup catcher. Not as highly ranked as arambide was. Doesn't sound like hes really gonna be a 3b option but a catcher with pop

He’s the 7th highest rated player in the class on PG (40 overall). #132 on the mlb draft board. He was definitely a draft risk. He’ll be one of the top players in the country to make it to college.

I can tell you right now Jay will not shy away from starting this kid if he can play better than arrambide. Arrambide could not catch a ball to save his life, and he better have a summer of 10,000 catches himself

Arrambidie got significantly better as the year progressed and caught Eyanson for several series. Dude had 1 error and 2 passed ballls all season while transitioning to big time baseball and catching mid to up 90’s FBalls with hammer curves in the dirt. Pretty sure he will be just fine

Arrambidie was an enormous Catching prospect and after 1 season as a true FR starting 30% of games and playing in 40%, we have fans thinking he sucks

So you only watched a few early season games? Because he improved a lot as the season went on.

So, Alex Milazzo on steroids.

I hope this is true. We heard similar about Arrambide and he needed some work.

Arrambide is going to be a beast when it’s all said and done. Enormously talented behind the plate and with the bat. He made a lot of solid contact in most of his at bats as well
