https://www.gematsu.com/2025/03/sony-interactive-entertainment-and-people-can-fly-enter-agreement-for-new-game-prototype-based-on-sony-ip

People Can Fly has entered into an agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment regarding the production of a prototype of a new game, codenamed “Project Delta,” based on an intellectual property belonging to Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company announced.

The developer will cooperate on production on a work-for-hire model, meaning that People Can Fly will work as a developer on behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment, the publisher, and in return receive an agreed remuneration from Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Work on the game prototype will be divided into stages. According to People Can Fly, the scope and provisions of the agreement do not differ substantially from the provisions of production agreements normally entered into for this type of project.

Further details were not announced, but the language in the announcement is similar to People Can Fly’s 2023 announcement regarding an agreement with Microsoft regarding the production of “Project Maverick,” which was recently confirmed to be referencing its position as a co-development partner on Gears of War: E-Day. Taking that into account, it is currently unclear whether People Can Fly is the main developer of this Sony Interactive Entertainment project, or a co-development partner.

Video mentions it could be Resistence or Killzone as well.

I would love to see a return of either of those franchises but that would be strange to move development from Insomniac or Guerilla.

I love love LOVED SOCOM and I've wanted a reboot for a long time. I played the hell out of SOCOM 1 & 2.

But I feel like that ship has long sailed. Zipper Interactive is no longer around, and anything SOCOM would have done has already been done by Rainbow 6, COD, Battlefield, Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc etc etc etc.

I don't know, SOCOM could actually try and make a good modern military shooter game, that hasn't been done in a while

I'd like a very stripped down, back to basics 3rd person squad based military shooter on console. The only thing close to that on console (and its 1st person) right now is Insurgency Sandstorm. Its still being supported and I like it a lot but it would be nice to for something new.

the biggest issue is that people don't use headsets anymore...

I love mine and will pay $300 all day long for good ones, but the days when each system came with a headset really was when everyone talked

Would love to see a solid 3rd person shooter. SOCOM 1 and 2 are great.

There was Ghost recon about 10 years back or so that also had some amazing 3rd person multi…forget the name…Future Soldier or something I think

Yea certainly not as much as they used to but a lot of folks still communicate in CoD, Insurgency, and R6. Just depends on the game.
