I went and looked through his filmography and he has not worked with many young British actors. Except Daniel Kaluuya

Can’t a guy just get Chris Nolan and Henry Cavill for once

But not a bad choice

Good to see him finally moving away from sci fi. Dune Messiah just started filming so he won't be working on Bond anytime soon.

Villeneuve said. “I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.”

Pattinson is in Messiah and he only has to make one Batman a decade.

Amazing director. Some of my all time favorite movies in sicario, arrival, and prisoners. Not to mention dune

I was told that the IP was dead.

There’s an entire thread about it.

That's what I don't understand. Passing on Nolan is kind of insane. Love Villaneueve, but his films are so avant-garde sometimes, I don't know if he's the right guy to direct Bond. His films all have a darkness and creepiness to them that is not really in the Bond mold. Great for stuff like Blade Runner or Dune, but not so much for Bond.

Nolan would have been a far more intriguing choice.

All in all, though, I guess Amazon just wanted their audience to be able to understand what the frick the actors were saying, so they passed in Chris.
