Plan to leave a day earlier than our reservation, on a Saturday. Thanks in advance. Open to an Airbnb if it has a pool.

If as in Blue Ridge GA? Doesn't seem too far for a one day drive?

But...

Guess it would depend on if you wanted to go through Atlanta or not. Normally, I don't like to drive through there but it might be the quickest options sans construction and rush hour issues. Time it.

If not, logical midway point would be around Birmingham. Shows 9 hr. 16 min (597 miles) for the trip in total. Been there a few times. It'd be ok. Maybe go out to dinner at Dreamland there?

A little farther up would be Desoto Falls in Northern AL is nice. Has a lodge.

It really depends on how you like to drive. Do you like to stop halfway? Or do you like to drive until you're a 2 hr drive so that you arrive early?

I would say Hoover, AL Anywhere around where the SEC tournament is. Decent food options as well. That's going through ATL on I-20.

Taking the South route of 10,65,85, stay in Auburn or going into Georgia Exit 13 in Lagrange has the great wolf lodge if you have kids. It also has a Biblical museum thing that was pretty good for a distraction if you're into that sort of thing. IMO, that's your last option to stop.

It's actually pretty close to the same driving time to go through Chatt and come back down 75 to Dalton or go up through the Ocoees as any other route you can take.

It's under 15 minutes difference if you plug it into Google Maps. Fastest route by Google is also through Atlanta. Good luck with that.

as someone else mentioned Ross Bridge in Hoover would be my first thought

GA is unique in that it has several small towns with thriving downtowns if you feel like exploring something new

Cartersville, Dahlonega, Rome, Acworth, Cave Spring, Blairsville, Madison etc

as far as BR check out the lake, check out the apple orchard (mercier), ride horses, fish, eat (black sheep is probably my favorite), hit up the breweries (grumpy old men was my favorite)

enjoy!
