If tweet fails to load, click here. Very impressive for 2 small market teams.

If only Hali could’ve got through the game. He’d be good in a few weeks.

How many Game 7s in that span
And it was still the worst-watched finals in 18 years

Counting the 2 COVID-impacted seasons is absurd
It was a dud

Playoff viewership was up this year. Seems like you are in denial.

A deep Knicks playoff run helps

It also set a record for viewership shares according to sports media watch

The 32 viewership share is the highest on record for a Finals Game 7, surpassing the previous high of 30.0 for Knicks-Rockets in ’94. The share — the percentage of homes or viewers using television who are watching a program in the average minute — will tend to grow as television usage declines.
Game 7 averaged a 5.15 rating in adults 18-49, a 4.4 in 18-34 and a 5.8 in 25-54, each ranking as the highest for an NBA game since 2019. Moreover, the shares in each demo were 58, 71 and 50 respectively. The 71 share in 18-34 is the highest ever for an NBA Finals game in the demo.

It was high level basketball between 2 great teams with nonstop adjustments from both staffs. It was absolutely not a dud from a basketball standpoint. Ratings and people who give a shite about market size go hand in hand unfortunately but im glad i was able to watch every game.

People keep saying it was the highest rated blah blah blah in "6 years". Are you even listening to yourself? Six years? Six fricking years, while COVID fricked everything up during a couple of those?
Six years is such a small window of time and people act like the NBA is flourishing. The league is trash and everyone knows it, except the hard-core fans with their head in the sand.
They've ruined the game. Zero fundamentals. Refs swallowing whistles, except on flops. Zero semblance of teamwork. Too much standing around away from the ball. Soft-arse "load management" protocols. God, how I wish they could play against Jordan, Bird, and Laimbeer.

How many people watch the NBA Finals is irrelevant to us fans. There will still be an NBA season next year regardless and we got to see the two best teams go at it for seven games. It was a win for people who love basketball.

Yep.
Until you realize it was beaten in the ratings by the Men's College Basketball National Championship Game between Florida and Houston 18.1 million viewers to 16.35 million viewers.
I'm happy to see the NBA's ratings beginning to flourish after so many years in the gutter, however they still can't beat out March Madness.

Im guessing you dont fit in the demo that matters most to the league.

Yep. Some folks cant seem to wrap their heads around the fact that market share is where the tv money comes from.

What? No LeFlop or Steph?
This can't be correct.
Those who didn't watch missed some good hoops.

If you like action with a frenetic pace, both teams played, I get it. They were picking each other up full court and contesting pretty much anything that moved from the opening tipoff. I enjoyed it, now we're left with MLB. Talk about the pace of play.

This is what people don't get. Ratings for everything on TV are down from the past. Share is what matters and that shows why the NBA keeps getting huge TV deals.
Sports are a premium because it's about the only thing on TV that people still watch live in large numbers, so ads are actually valuable. A dominating share + sports = $$$.

This was the first game 7 of NBA Finals since Cavs/Warriors in 2016. That game had 30 million viewers. Chew on that for a minute.

I dont give a shiat how many other people watched it. I watched and enjoyed. It was refreshing seeing new teams and talent.
