Layoffs happening across all companies due to AI, I am legit worried that when my kid grows up, human work may be limited to only a select few. Is capitalism really at its peak when ai takes over?

No way this is sustainable, need rural boys to go down sf and nyc and clean house

I don’t know, how long before we kill ourselves with cancer because we’d rather eat dominos than go outside.

What's wild is that this was hardly a question 10, certainly 20 years ago. Now it's one the biggest ones out there, and nobody seems to have the answer.

Businesses don't exist to be job programs.

But without business, isn’t the only job the government?

There are no jobs, especially no entry-level jobs. And if some boomer O-T says there are, you haven't applied to a job in years.

That's not even the worse part, you apply to jobs and receive silence. Never hear about your application again. If, by some miracle, you do get an interview after sending 500 applications, the hiring manager is on vacation/sick/fricked up.

It's the most painfully slow experience to find a job.

The flip side in that most people won't be able to buy their products and services anymore.

It's real, and it's coming if not here. Trade school might be the way to go, who knows. Thankfully I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Interesting point.

Consumer spending is 70% of the US economy.

We'll probably end up with some sort at UBI at some point in the future, but it will be essentially the equivalent of welfare, not some middle class income.

It will be interesting. I have one starting college pretty soon and I'm struggling a little with how to guide her.
