Was the pitching as good as advertised?

Had one poster say it wasn't as good as advertised back around March i guess
I would say its been damn good. Going to have 2 pitchers drafted in the 1st round plus Shore's stock has really risen up the draft boards.
What say the Rant?

Well Tigers only used (3) in the finals so I’d say it was pretty damn good

You’re asking if the pitching was good as advertised after we completed a national championship season where an LSU pitcher led D1 in SO for only the second time in history, and the other was 3rd in SO with a 12-2 record?

It was damn good especially those 2 starters who threw every week and kept us in every game

I will be honest here, watched every game this season. I thought this was a super regional team, and Omaha team, but wondered early and into conference play if they could win it all. Anderson and Eyanson were money all year, but the bullpen was struggling with command. Shores struggled as a starter. The hitting seemed to get completely shut down at times. Late into the season, the bullpen solidified itself, Evans had some great Sunday starts, and the defense was phenomenal all year. Each game it seemed 3-4 guys carried the team (hitting wise). 2023 had a lot of big name guys going into the season. This team's big name guys emerged as the season went on. Maybe the grittiest and gutsiest team we have had.

Has to be the most improved since early in the season.
Without his improvement/performance we probably wouldn't have the trophy.
Team hit the hot streak in a timely manner.

I think early on we had 4 guys to count on
Anderson
Eyanson
Cowan
Evans
Moving Shores to the pen and Evans to the Sunday starter was a great move and Shores kind of thrived in that bullpen role

I think it is reasonable to ask the question that way to start the discussion, and the answer is a resounding yes.
Even more important to realize is how the coaching staff set up the workload(s), the preparation in gametime for specific situations and overall plan to be ready for the post season. And the kids responded beautifully.
I love the way our teams are "built for the post season". Everything else including SEC championships are secondary, and if they become a byproduct of the process, then great, if not then no big deal.
JJ has two NCs with no SEC regular season or Tourney championships to show lol. I'll gladly take it.

Sub 4 team ERA, 2 of the nations 3 strikeout leaders, 2 12 game winners, 3-4 very dependable relievers and about 6 guys that will be high draft picks. Yeah I think it was as advertised

people were talking shite and the. we gave up 14 total runs in omaha.
just a casual 2.80 team ERA against the 8 best teams in the country.

Absolutely agree. Shores got total command of his pitches and was pretty much unhittable.

It was one of the best staffs top to bottom in a while. Most fans want instant gratification and results. Baseball takes time for players and teams to come together. Jay’s manages a pitching staff as well as any coach in college. They are better in May/June.

The fact that they only used 8 different pitchers in the CWS in total should tell you all you need to know. And that was with a rain delay which forced more pitching to be used in the UCLA game than likely would have otherwise.

ALL of this and add in the emergence of Cooper Williams at some critical moments + Cowan re-finding his flow.

Like in all season there were some up and downs. There were periods when the bullpen could not throw strikes.
The extended hibernation of the offense at times definitely made every mistake on the mound feel like the end of the world.
