While Oklahoma's quarterback situation remains a mystery in the 2026 recruiting class, one of their targets is having a week at the Elite 11 Finals in California.
Four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley has performed well at the Elite 11 finals and earned the distinction of top performer from night two by Rivals recruiting expert Adam Gorney.
Down to Oklahoma and LSU, Bentley delivered arguably the best performance of the night. What we loved the most is that the Celina, Texas four-star was firing the ball on most throws, really spinning it and getting it there with purpose. He was good throwing from the pocket, escaping pressure, resetting and getting it out and hitting receivers on every kind of route. It was a really strong, impressive showing that showed off a range of skills. - Gorney, Rivals
In addition to Gorney's praise, Bentley earned high praise from 247Sports recruiting analysts Andrew Ivins and Tom Loy, who lauded Bentley's intermediate passing ability. Charles Power of On3 liked what he saw from Bentley and said he was 18 of 20 on his throws.
Bentley is an incredible dual-threat quarterback. He can throw to all levels and has the athleticism and speed to create big plays with his legs. He's drawn some comparisons to Oklahoma starting quarterback John Mateer after an undefeated season for Celina. In his junior season, Bentley threw for 3,211 yards and 47 touchdowns and ran for 923 yards and 16 more scores on the ground.
The Oklahoma Sooners are working to secure a commitment from Bentley. Both OU and LSU hosted Bentley for an official visit in the last month, and both schools feel like they're in a strong position to earn his pledge.

CC, are we trailing here? Thought I read that Okie has taken the lead

That’s exactly what I saw. Is that after the dust kind of settled on that OU visit that they were kind of back in front..

Interesting fact: OU signed 4 QBs from the portal last season. Only Mateer was a high ranked portal player though. They also have the #14 composite QB in their 26' class.

Rumor has it that their existing commit at QB is pissed that Okie is so hot on Bentley and he's flipping to FSU.
Let's hope he sticks w/Okie and this is all fake news.

People around Celina think he ends up at OU because of the distance.

I think we would've heard a lot more if lsu was landing him.
Kinda weird they can't get a qb from high school with burrow, jayden, and now nuss set up for a big yr.

Will go OU and collect a big check. Then next year transfer to LSU and collect another big check. Welcome to college football.

How the hell could he pick Oklahoma with the talent we have n the team consistently.
Posted on 6/19/25 at 8:57 pm to TigerSaurus
His favorite team growing up. Would be like any of us picking LSU regardless of the talent or caliber of team.
I definitely want Beaux, but if we don’t get him, surely there’s a backup plan. Duckworth maybe?

He loved his LSU visit. I think we land him.

They all love their visits. They’re getting paid to visit college campuses, go out with the current players, meet college girls etc. What part of that doesn’t sound enjoyable? I think Bentley really likes LSU, but OU is his comfort zone.

I’m 20 minutes from Celina and my OU BIL lives there and is in the Booster Club
He said he’d be shocked if he’s not a Sooner. Celina to Norman is a 2:15 minute drive and all interstate.
Dia Bell was the MVP this week and was better than Bentley. He’s going to Texas.

I disagree with this. Hold the line on what you agreed to pay. Do not get in a bidding war. We have a QB for next year (hopefully productive for two more years) and in '27, we have some great possibilities.
If OU "outbids" us, so be it. Use that money to build up trenches with the best possible rentals from the transfer portal.
As good as BU is ( and I think he's amazing) I wouldn't trade him for the transfer portal we brought in.
Do I wish this wasn't the way of the CFB world? Definitely.
But we have to deal with the reality of the situation.
We have a budget and offered a market-value amount to Bentley. If we made OU up their offer and its now more than we want to spend--we have to stay disciplined and use that money elsewhere.

He was. They also ranked them by day, so someone may have been referencing a day where Bentley was ranked high but he finished 5th overall. Bell was 1

Yep, Bell rang the bell.

Dia Bell will be the next TXsteers heisman winner after Arch, just ask them.
Oh yea, they are the NEW WRU as well??
