Larry Johnson Anyone?

While we are contemplating older guys. Maybe a potential way out from under the Grant contract if they wanted. Renegotiated cheap role playing pounder?
Good Read From KC
Highlights for non readers-
"Hopefully, my future is not with this organization..."
LJ was slower and just couldn't be counted on to carry the Chiefs' load like he once did. That's why Kansas City drafted Jamaal Charles
So do the Chiefs just dump him? At this point, that might be a likely scenario and could be best for the team. Sure, they'll try to trade him. They'll have him on the market for peanuts and hope some team takes a bite. But know this: a third-rounder (or even a fourth- or fifth-rounder) is not going to happen. Only in Scott Pioli's dreams. If the Chiefs are offered anything for Johnson, their best-case scenario might be a conditional pick or a sixth-rounder.
If the new coach and LJ aren't going out for ice cream shortly after their first meeting, then Kansas City will move forward and probably cut Johnson.

How? When a team trades a player they still get stuck eating the signing bonus just like if they cut him.

Pioli will hold out for a trade since they will have to pay the signing bonus anyway. If he refuses to play, they will fine him to recoup some of the loss and wait until the fifth or sixth week of the season to cut him like K. Johnson or K. McCardell. IMO

the load he needed to carry is alot heavier, KC OL was among the worst in the NFL, the man can still play

Yes, trade him, but not for a pick this year. KC will be bad for awhile. Trade him to for a conditional pick(s).
Could you imagine LJ in New England next year?
And no he wouldn't be a good fit in New Orleans

I'm not a fan of him character-wise. BUT Payton does draw a strong line on character AND has taken in some malcontents that have seemesd to fit in okay- Shockey, Nicks, Arrington, etc. He is the style of runner we need to replace the expected Deuce hole tho.
Noting again because respected Michael Lombardi at NFP mentioned it today...
What the Chiefs have to do is make decisions that are in the best interest of the Chiefs and not Tony or Larry. If they can get the right trade value for either player (the Saints should be all over Johnson), then make the move, but only for the right deal.
National Football Post
With the shortage of draft picks move a player that we won't mind see going... Jason David, resigned Moore or Stinchcomb for Johnson + pick #67. In a renegotiated veteran minimum/high incentive deal it could be viable.

dont waste the money. PT cruiser and Mike Bella re good enough to sustain. We need to focus solely on LBs and Secondary. once the defense steps up, we'll be legit.

I think we can narrow that down to 1 OLB, 1 FS, and 1 CB (if MM is not coming back 100%).

Larry Johnson is 30, on the wrong side of his career, and has had too many people telling him how great he is. He's not his old self, but he's better than anything on the Saints roster right now. At the right price, you know he'd be a feature back in New Orleans and is exactly the kind of back our offense needs.
So, if he is willing to take a one or two year deal for less than he's asking, then I'd say sign him up. Good football players are hard to find, and Larry Johnson is still a good football player. Plus, he's exactly what the Saints need at RB.

We still would have to pay Grant's signing bonus.
Add that on to an LJ contract, no chance.
Plus, there's a good possibility his best days are behind him with how much KC used him.

Talk about a one dimensional back. He refuses to pass block & can't catch worth a shite. So that means LJ in run for sure. Wonder how long it would take other defenses to put 11 in the box.

The NO Bar skanks will disappear whenever he gets here.
