I have a Husqvarna LC-221A self-propelled mower with 6.75EXI 4-cycle engine, 6 years-old. Runs great, starts with one pull. Was marketed as no oil changes necessary and I have taken them at their word. Any ideas how they are able to accomplish this?
Also, anyone know if there is a way to adjust the drive mechanism to increase forward speed? It's belt driven but I don't see where to make an adjustment and nothing on the 'net. Thanks.

If you bought it new, then it should have come with an owner's manual in the packaging. If the forward speed can be adjusted, it should be in the manual.

They figured out the engine with no oil changes will last longer than the rest of the mower. In my many years of cutting grass. All my mowers the deck, drive system ect were the reason for junking a mower & not something engine related.

Oil is cheap. I'd dump it and put new oil in. Oil can build up acids over time from moisture and combustion. It can also accumulate metal and dirt particles.

How do they accomplish this no oil change "tech"? Simple, everything is made to be disposable today and they want you to help with this process by taking part in the craziness by having you take part by neglecting the engine.

If you participate you will soon be back to buy a new one, which is the goal.

Unfortunately, those comments make sense. Guess I naively figure most people run their business the way I think I would.

Then that kind of tells me it can't be adjusted.

Change the oil. It probably only takes 18oz, use sae30. Remove fill cap lean it over.

Change the belt if you found the self propel has slowed down.

6.75EXi takes 16oz of oil, synthethic 5W-30 or 10W-30. I use an oil extractor from OEM Tools for my two lawn mowers, makes oil changes a breeze compared to putting them up on sawhorses are removing a drain plug, just siphon right out of the filler hole then put fresh oil back in.

New Briggs & Stratton engines are crap. I bought one to put on my 30+ year old Snapper mower, and after two runs it plugged up.

No more B&S BS for me.

I'll admit that I've never changed the oil in a mower. I bought my current mower almost 30 years ago when I bought my first house in 1996. I've changed the self-propelled gear box twice in that time.

I bought a troy built version. I thought it meant the oil would eventually burn off over time and the oil level would drop I would top it off with new oil. Not the case after 3 years. I’m going to change it soon.

Nice reminder thread.
I have a 2016 Craftsman "no change necessary" push mower i use just as much as my riding mower and have never changed the oil. Probably should do it the next time I replace my rider's.

This is what I do as well. Every auto parts store sells an inexpensive pump for removal of oil from the rear differential….that is what I use to change oil in small engines,
