So new roundup doesn’t use Glyphosate anymore?

Just found this out. As I think yall know, I’ve bought a new house. Lots of projects to get it up to snuff.
We are on 1/3 an acre which is substantial relative to what we’ve had before (small NOLA apartment, to townhome with at least a small front and back yard).
One of those is managing a larger yard than we are used to. They had tons of flower beds that we plan to use but obviously now there are tons of weeds with little care the last few months while we were under contract and moving in and focusing on the interior.
Well sprayed the whole property with new bottles of roundup for lawns as I didn’t want to risk killing any grass. Sprayed all the weeds and was careful not to get any on leaves of plants we didn’t want to kill.
I also have a bottle of roundup lawn and weed killer that I plan to use on our patio once we square that away since it’s away from the lawn.
Obviously roundup seems to be the gold standard weed killer but I just found out they changed their formula. So is this stuff still any good? Or should I look to use another weed killer?
Just sprayed Saturday so I assume I won’t see results for at least a few more days to maybe a week or two.

I got some with a purple cap last year that said glyphosate on the label. I did have to read all the labels to find it.

If you want to avoid drift just use a paint roller. I do it in our plots and it works just fine

I just buy glyphosate from the hardware store. It's 41%, which is way stronger than it ever was in Roundup. Cheap too.

We have northern grasses where I’m at. Fescue and bluegrass mix. Which roundup said was fine to use their product on I believe.

“Roundup” as a brand has multiple products.
They still sell “Roundup” with glyphosate, but also have a “yard safe” product that you can spray into your grass that kills some weeds without harming the lawn.
I suspect that you got the yard safe product rather than the glyphosate based option.

What I sprayed on my lawn was the green capped roundup concentrate you can buy at Lowe’s. Mixed it in with 1/2 gallon of water in my sprayer and that about covered what I needed. I guess I’m just hoping it will work as well as traditional roundup for what I needed.
Really just trying to get the whole place in order and knock down the insane amount of weeds that have built up while we were going through home buying and then actually moving in.

I got Roundup Pro Max last year and it has 48% glysophate.

All the articles I found about them dropping glyphosate are from 2025.

In that case I’ll hang onto the large jug I have until it becomes so ineffective I can water my lawn with it.

Just buy any of the shelf brand with it in the active ingredient. Walmart usually has it pretty cheap.

I guess that leads to a second question. I still like using the selective herbicide but is that stuff any good? Just don’t want to go balls to the wall with glyphosate in areas where it could hit other plants we don’t want to kill, or accidentally spray some on my grass or whatever.

glyphosate will kill whatever you spray it on. so if you're just wanting to take out weeds and not your grass for example, you should use something like Celsius if you want to mass treat. Only use glyphosate for spot treatment. Or you can also mass spray with 2,4-D (weed b gone), that's generally safe to use on grass also.

I bought 2,4-D and it said it wasn’t save for St. Aug.
I used roundup weed killer that’s safe for lawns and it turned the grass yellow.

The stuff I saw a few months ago had triclopyr in it. It’s similar to glyphosate but it last longer in the environment and is more active in the soil so you can’t spray an area, watch it die and replant all within a few days like you used to. Triclopyr puts a brown spot in my yard for a least a month. Rather than starting to heal on week two, the brown spot is still getting bigger.
