I got a feeling the kid is going to bounce back in a big way before this is through with.
Glad he’s putting in work.

Didn't sound like a sweet Barrell to me. Hope he finds it.

He needs to work away. That’s what he did at the beginning of the season. It kept him staying on ball longer.

I suspect he just has the yips. He should have had plenty of reps in the cage already at this point in his career.

He doesn't need to take BP of the machine, he needs to take BP off of someone throwing hard sliders.

He needs to quit the back bending crap and take more pitches. Second at bat last night the pitch was on the way and he was so far bent backwards I’m not sure how he could even get back right up to swing. Just stop. It does nothing at all for you, and adds so much bs on top of trying to hit the ball.

It’s not the yips. It’s the inability to lay off the outside curve/slider.

Jones needs to be a team player and go opposite field.
I’m tired of this slump stuff. He is actively not changing anything based on now he is pitched. Nothing will change until his approach changes. He can and has been an opposite field power guy. He just isn’t even trying.
It’s annoying.

Imagine being some slapdick on Tigerdroppings and thinking you’re qualified to give the best of the best in the country hitting advice

I really agree with this.
Your back bend thing is moving your head and eyes around too much pre-pitch and sometimes mid-pitch. Cut that out / minimize it JUST A BIT and give your eyes a break.
I’m not pulling the tape and comparing but it’s noticeably different and over-exaggerated this year. Call me crazy.

Sorry Hunt but I dont wanna hear anything else from you... tries so hard to be objective and not a homer I can't remember the last time he picked LSU in big game

I watched a few of his pinch hit ABs in Omaha from ‘23 last night and it looks like his bat speed has gotten worse since his freshman year. He is either very unsure of himself or his eyes need to be fixed

You haven’t noticed the difference with his back bend thing this year? Or do you think that’s his thing, let it ride?
I’m admittedly dumb. Honestly asking.

That's what they don't understand. It isn't a slump. Teams know exactly how to pitch him now....the teams he feasted on early didn't have the ability that the pitcher have here or most of the last half of the sec. Until his approach changes, and in particular his 2 strike approach, he will rarely hit. He swings for the fence with 2 strikes...and often strikes out if it isn't a fastball

Hopefully he’s getting fed sliders and curve balls on the outer part of the plate

Speaking of his eyes, I thought back to when Dwayne Bowe was having trouble catching the football and it did end up being something with his eyes.
For the moment though, maybe it would help for Brad Cresse to call and talk to him. Remember his Omaha slump in 2000, then he broke out in the Championship Game against Stanford.
Try anything at this point!
