I think that's Van Horn seeing he might not have his best stuff and doesn't want him to stay in and throw 90+ pitches. Get him out bring in someone else who might have better luck and Root throws less than 40 pitches and he will be available again soon.
Now for LSU's sake hopefully they just continue to pour it on.

That's exactly what it is if needed. It's still early in the game. He will calm him down and save him for another game if needed.
