Is Iran more of a paper tiger than Russia? Why did we let it exist?

Seems like we could have shut this shite show down at anytime. Yet the Israelis do the job in one night and pull the teeth from the paper tiger. GWB and Obama let thousands of American service member and support staff perish because they are pussies.

It's better to fight that regional issue there vicariously than it is to fight it globally. "Support" is one thing, but other countries actually joining the fighting is something very different. They are the 2 drunk uncles that fist fight sometimes.

The problem is first defining what "taken out" means. Then you have to decide what to do when you have reached that objective. We and most every country have proven to be horrible at nation building, and the country loses interest in spending money quickly. So, unless you plan to set up an imperial government and try to rule that way, you will leave a vacuum. Vacuums in the ME never seem to break the way of the West. We never get a solution only time.
We all can pontificate about what was done incorrectly, but I doubt any of us could come up with an actual effective plan.

GWB didn't help anything by getting us into OIF/OEF based on intentionally bad Intel.
Saddam Hussein has been keeping the entire region in check, including Iran. Removing him gave us everything the ME is dealing with today.
