My son's 12 year old beagle has passed away (euthanized).

Any idea where to find a replacement?

What should he expect to spend?

TIA

There's a breed rescue organization with locations as close as Alabama:

Do you want pure blooded or no?

Hunting or no?

If you just want a dog for a pet that looks similar to a beagle, you can probably get one free at the pound…some of my best pets were beagles from the pound.

However, you will not find very mn\any that will hunt at the pound, though.

Look at the Arkansas Deer Dog Facebook page. They have people giving pups away all the time.

That’s how we got ours, she was a product of an unwanted pregnancy.

We got ours from some people in the Ponchatula area . He is a registered and all that . We have had him since Christmas and he’s a good dog so far . Weirdest thing with him though is he won’t bark or make a sound in general . He will make a noise if he gets hurt or while he is sleeping but when he’s up and moving around the house , he’s dead silent .

Jeffco Kennels I believe is the name

Son in law raises beagles. I don’t a lot about them though, other than they are rabbit dogs. Don’t know if he has small pups now or when he is expecting the next litter.
Just west of Baton Rouge.

I've have five beagles in my life. One of them really was just a quiet house dog. Didn't bark or howl at everything that moved or made a sound. The only time she'd go ballistic is if she actually did get on a rabbit. She was never a hunting dog per se`, but it was a rural area at the time and she was free to run loose. When in the house, she was just a regular old house dog. So it is possible to get lucky with a beagle (pure bred) that is chill. But you gotta get lucky. The others I've had were "normal" and two in particular were absolute terrors.

To OP, if you go to get a pick of the litter, even though they are all cute and playful puppies, don't get the feisty one. Feisty puppies are super cute and playful, avoid that urge, get the least feisty one.
