Are they worth it and if so any recommendations? Would be used predominantly for inshore saltwater fishing.

I have a JDM DC reel. It's fine. It isn't any better than a non DC Shimano reel, IMO. I actually prefer the MGL over the DC.

And for some people the noise of the DC is annoying. Some people like it.

Agree, I have a Metanium in DC, but actually think the new microgear shimanos are smoother, even the Curados are as good if you dial them in

I have 3 Curado DC's and one Metanium DC and a regular Metanium. I personally love the DC sound and it is extremely hard to backlash em. I will say that the regular Metanium throws further than the others, not by much.

I went Daiwa Coastal with SV TW over the Shimano DC offerings and have been happy.

Any of them when used ina scenario that requires the technology ( weightless plastics ,small cranks) are better than not using them. My fav is the curado.

My biggest thing is being able to throw into the wind inshore fishing and not backlashing.

Then you are going to want the DC or SVTW technology

I have 3 curado DC’s and an slx dc. I love the DC reels. My main argument for them, is the ability to cast light baits into the wind without backlashing. Small top water poppers, rattle traps, small square bill crankbaits, etc. are where the DC’s really shine.

I have the new Met DC and a bunch of Daiwa Steez, zillions, alphas, and gekkabijins.

The Met DC is nice but I’m a big fan of Daiwa’s these days. A JDM zillion sv TW at $220 is the best deal going imo.

I own mostly diawas so I am partial to them but I like having the sv reels that serve the same purpose as the DC's without the whining noise on every cast. The DC's are nice reels no doubt though, its all about preference.

I love how bad it pisses off the other guy in the boat when it sings to me.
