It takes longer to drive from Tiptonville, TN to Key West, FL, only passing through 1 intermediate state of Alabama or Georgia, than it takes to drive from New Orleans to NYC or San Diego to Seattle.
There are 2 separate I-87 designated interstates, one in NY, one in NC.
Fresno, CA, over 1 million in metro area population, is the largest city in the US not served by a US designated interstate highway.
I-90 from Boston to Seattle is the longest interstate at 3020 miles.
The shortest official designated and signed interstate is I-375 in Detroit at 1.06 miles. There are a number of others that are <2.0 miles..

All North (shout out North Side) and South bound interstates are odd numbers.
And all East and West bound interstates are even numbers.

And all East and West bound interstates are even numbers.

This is wild and I still can’t contemplate it even after looking it up on Google maps

If all the farts happening daily in Nebraska were converted to electricity it could power the city of Youngstown Ohio for 12 hours

quote:Yeah, driving down from the East coast after work, hours and hours, headed for South Florida and you finally get past Jax. Just south of 295 is a sign that says "Miami 331". Dayum, not even close.

My final win as a HS football player came there.

El Paso is closer to the Pacific Ocean than it is to Beaumont.

Try driving through Texas. Not sure if Texas has El Paso on a highway sign in Orange, but the Texas welcome center is at Exit 880. That means you have almost 880 miles before you get to New Mexico on I-10.
That is longer than New Orleans to Disney World which is 683 miles.

Key west is waaay out there. Was looking at the keys on google maps yesterday for golf courses.
Just for the heck of it.

It’s 876mi from welcome sign to welcome sign along I-10 in Texas.
I know…I’ve clocked it.

The dash marks dividing lanes are 10 feet long.

This sign is pretty intimidating if you're driving all the way through Texas:

Pretty sure the first mile marker is something like 889 or 899. Nearly 900 miles cross. hope there are a lot of gas stations.

On 3 digit numbers if it starts with an even number it brings you around a city, Example I-610 in Nola goes around the CBD. If it starts with an odd number its goes into or away from the city, example I-110, which leads you away or into Baton Rouge.

Not that anyone has tried, must be tough in Tesla. I would imagine you needing a recharge station in the middle of the barren wasteland of West Texas. While an ICE vehicle can plow through almost 600 miles without stopping.

hell, I live in Odessa, TX. from the exit to get to my office, it's STILL another 275 miles to El Paso.

I think the first one has Orange and El Paso, but I couldn't find that one on google.

No that’s the first one. Beaumont is 23ish miles from the Sabine.

You’d be surprised. I was in Fort Stockton a few years back and pulled into a gas station. It had about half a dozen charging stations lined up.
