His tweet didn’t seem overly offensive as to rise to a firing. Seems like they were looking for an excuse to unload a big contract.

I'm sorry, but you can't have a "journalist" acting this way. ABC News is wise to do this. Trump is suing the frick out of CBS and has all of the momentum/high ground in the case. Didn't he just have a unnecessarily confrontational interview with Trump or a Trump Admin official recently, like within the last 2 or 3 months? I think it was involving the "Maryland Man," where he was saying the Trump admin's confirmations that he was in fact MS-13 were false and hadn't been proved. Then whoever he was interviewing went into the actual proof and he just kept talking over them, saying "that's not true," and kept trying to change the subject... after he was the one who brought it up. I wanted to reach through the TV and strangle that propaganda weasel.
Edit: Yes, he interviewed Trump at his first 100 days in office and was a dishonest, combative, biased POS.

I'd rather have Moran who gives you his true thoughts than the 100 others who gaslight and try to "subtly" influence viewers while claiming neutrality. Not that I'll mourn one less lefty journo, but he'll probably just be replaced with some even less honest one.
