That song isn’t actually about West Virginia, it’s about western Virginia. Blue Ridge Mountains and all, but “western” Virginia wouldn’t work with the rhythm of the song.

The kid from Port Allen shouldn't have sung that song on American Idol. Any Merle song would have been better.
