With NIL today, Skip has helped JJ manage the roster. Skip is still the kind of man who adapts and changes with the times. Skip's extensive experience continues to benefit LSU baseball and JJ. We are so fortunate he is still here with us.

Maybe I came off a little too harsh, lol. I just enjoyed seeing the trio of coaches all on good terms and celebrating each other and LSU, and it sucks not to see it anymore.
Just felt like it was obvious to everyone, but Mainieri, himself, that the game had passed him by. I'm sure he could have done coaching clinics and one on one coaching as often as he wanted to around Louisiana.

I mean this in the best way possible and by no means do I want anything to happen, but don't take for granted that he's still around. He still has things to do, so it's good that he remains somewhat active, but with his wife having passed, there's no telling how much time he has left. Hopefully he has enough left to see LSU get #8,9 and 10.
ETA: having seen it in another thread, if anyone is Yoda, it's Skip. Jay would be Obi-wan. Smoke would have been Count Dooku, lol.

It is one of his daughters. As sad as it is to say, there is a strong possibility that this could be Skip's last Super Regional in Alex Box. Or he could live to be biblically old for all I know. However, the boys ripped the seams off the baseball this weekend in a manner that Skip most likely found VERY entertaining. Dude reinvented college baseball and offenses.

I think PM was shocked an SEC team would bring him out of retirement so he took the only opportunity he had. It went about how everyone expected. Year 2-3 will show what he can do in this era.

Not even Bob Broadbead could have envisioned what Skip Bertman built at LSU when he was hired in 1984. Make no mistake about it the 2023 national title team and this 2025 Omaha team can be trace backed directly to that man using a walker to get around the field right now. Without him, perhaps we have some teams that were good as the SEC baseball exploded in popularity in the 1990s, heck LSU’s success opened the eyes of other ADs in the SEC, but we would not be THE STANDARD of college baseball for 40 years without Stanley Bertman.
That man built not only great teams, but a PROGRAM with a loyal and growing fan base, that has held firm through 4 coaches and 40 years. Skip built the fan base. And it wasn’t just because he won. He was the ultimate promoter, and he cared about fan experience. That one man could lead the monster that LSU baseball has become is simply indescribable.
To Skip

The was an awesome image, skip on the field giving hugs and handshakes for everyone. He is moving around and looking great for 87. I hope we’re blessed enough to have him around qnr healthy at least another 20 years.

It's not really a grudge and I elaborated in subsequent post.
Mainieri was set-up to be almost beloved and always looked at in a good light, had he remained retired and connected with LSU. I'm not sure it'll feel the same if he tries and comes back after a failed stint at South Carolina.
