Does anyone else remember this as a kid? Whatever happened to it? Was it a small town thing, was a fun time.

Donkeys and ping pong balls?
Where'd your parents let you hang out as a kid?

No. We were sitting in the stands eating popcorn

I believe some kid fell off and broke his shoulder my senior year of high-school. I doubt they still do it, but it was a thing.

They had it at Lakeshore Playground in Metry back in the 70's... My dad played in it. He wore an old football helmet without a face guard.

Was all fun and games until someone got bucked off and kicked. Quality entertainment

I thought about this the other day and talked to my wife about it. What a random thing to exist

Yep
Eta: a donkey is a peculiar animal. Don't ever know if it's going to love on you or kick you in the head

First of all, Tijuana is not that small. Second of all, your parents are trash for letting you see that.

And there we have the reason why we can't have fun anymore!

I remember going to it when I lived in Independence. It was pretty disappointing, even for an 8 year old kid.

Saw it at my high school back in 79-82.
I think it was for charity.
Funny when the player has to try to drag the uncooperative donkey to retrieve the ball after a missed pass or shot to the net.

We did Donkey basketball to raise money for our HS baseball program. My old yearbook has pics of me riding that mean bastard.
