It's that time of year again, weed eating the yard and I get it every spring. Anyone have a home remedy cure or otc product that actually works? Another thing, why does it wait to itch when you are trying to enjoy a good night's sleep? Little to no itch during the day, then like clockwork, keeps me up at night

TECU has worked the best for me. It is an oil that you rub in and rinse. It lifts the poison Ivy oil out of your skin

You're gonna need an ocean
Of calamine lotion
You'll be scratchin' like a hound
The minute you start to mess around

Go to a minute clinic and get the steroid shot if its early. Usually goes away in a week without the shot but with the shot, you will have relief quickly

When it does itch, get water running as hot as you can stand it. Run the affected area under the hot water.

Enjoy the orgasmic instant itch relief.

I used to use that, it works really well if you use it shortly after you touch the poison ivy. I started using dawn dish soap and it seems to work well, too. Ivy Dry is another good product. It doesn't really reduce the itching that much but it makes it go away quicker.

My grandfather’s treatment was pure grain alcohol and blot the areas with a soaked cotton ball. Do it 3-4 times a day. I used to get it all the time as a kid and this worked better than anything else. Calamine lotion never did anything for me. If it’s widespread and severe maybe urgent care for a cortisone shot.

My wife's a nurse and a few years ago, she put some black tar looking stuff on my arms when I got a cedar rash. That and a steroid pack did the trick.

I used to get poison ivy every few years, but I've eradicated all of it. But damned if I dont get a rash on my arms from cutting down cedar trees.

The best way to prevent is to immediately wash with a good decrease and scrub any skin that the oils might have contacted.

Zanfel can get it at any drug store. It's a scrub that exfoliates the rash and binds to the oil. Around $50 for a tube but works wonders

Avoid exposure by wearing long sleeves, gloves, pants. Remove clothes immediately after yard work and take shower right away

Because at night when you're sleeping, poison ivy comes a-creeping all around.

Dawn. Not just for cleaning oil spill ducklings. Pour it on. Let it sit a while. Rinse with cool water. Repeat a bunch of times daily. If bad enough, cortisone shot from Urgent Care.

When I was a kid playing in the woods, I would always get it. Finally got enough shots to where the doc said, when you leave the woods, clothes go straight into washer, & shower body with Dawn. Nowadays whenever i think I may be around it, I shower multiple times with Dawn. Especially nice/easy since I installed my poolside bathroom recently. Never really had it again.

Maybe a speck here and there but after a few days of spot treating with Dawn, it dries it up pretty well and goes away.

Agreed. I’ve used this too the last few years and recommend.

Technu Extreme

Put it on maybe 3-4 times a day with cold water and lightly scrub in. The scrubbing with this was actually one of the most amazing feelings.
