I am trying to help a young woman on a tight budget. She needs an inexpensive but decent wireless cellular camera with night vision that will send alerts and good clear photos to her phone if motion is detected. She wants to put it in her car so that if anyone tries to break in she will know. I have looked at inexpensive security cameras and inexpensive trail cams. I don’t know which inexpensive brand is best. Which is the best brand on a budget? What is the least expensive carrier plan? I also see that some trail cams offer 50-100 free photos per month. Does that mean that there is no monthly carrier fee? I am confused. Lastly, she lives in Arizona so would a solar powered camera work inside of her car? If not, it needs to be rechargeable. She could bring it into her apartment to charge it and put it back in her car at night. Thanks in advance!

Anything off the shelf these days is going to be really good. I can see across the dang street with my ring doorbell at midnight.

Thanks but Ring uses wifi and she won’t have wifi in her car. That’s why it has to be a cellular camera.

Stealthcam or Tacticam

Looking at $10/ month for a fairly basic cell plan.

We only have one cell cam at the camp, but it does not send images in real time. You get an email twice a day. This is a Cuddyback, but not sure if other do real time.

Most, not sure about cuddyback, have a setting that will send in real time.

ETA: typically take a minute or so to get it.

Stealthcam now has a couple of cameras that will do a live picture for you.

Does she have WiFi in the house? If so, the camera itself wouldn’t need to be cellular thus, avoiding another cell bill. That’s the setup i have…the cameras are solar so there is no battery replacement and the footage when tripped, connects via Wi-Fi to a local storage device so there is no monitoring fee.

Tapo. They are wifi but the app is 1st class. Batteries last several months and rechargeable. Magnet mount so easy to move. Have my whole house covered. Made by same company as Deco wifi mesh router systems.

I use a Reolink cam that comes
W/solar panel. I have. 1 TB memory card and EIOT sim card. Has pan tilt zoom and good resolution.

My personal view is you probably can’t positively identify a criminal unless they’re real stoopid’. However you can view the crime over and over and stay pissed off.
