Democrats set out to study young men. Here are their findings

The Democrats trying to understand young American men know people are roasting their plan.
All that mocking just proves their point, they said: Democrats aren’t taking this disaffected and politically alienated voting bloc seriously enough.
It “reaffirms what young men already think, that Democrats don’t want to invest in you,” said Ilyse Hogue, who co-founded the Speaking with American Men project.
The group has a two-year, $20 million budget to study young men and how Democrats can reach them. The results of an initial round of research shared exclusively with POLITICO — including 30 focus groups and a national media consumption survey — found many young men believe that “neither party has our back,” as one Black man from Georgia said in a focus group. Participants described the Democratic Party as overly-scripted and cautious, while Republicans are seen as confident and unafraid to offend.
Democrats are seen as weak, whereas Republicans are seen as strong,” Hogue said. “Young men also spoke of being invisible to the Democratic coalition, and so you’ve got this weak problem and then you’ve got this, ‘I don’t think they care about me’ problem, and I think the combination is kind of a killer.”
The SAM project — which turned into a punchline for liberals and conservatives alike — is pitching itself to donors and officials as a hub for research, paid advertising and influencer outreach that’s focused on young men, a once-critical part of the Democratic coalition that they lost to President Donald Trump in 2024. The group was founded by Hogue, the former president of NARAL; John Della Volpe, a pollster who specializes in Gen Z voters; and former Texas Rep. Colin Allred, who unsuccessfully ran for Senate last year.

The focus groups found that young men feel they are in crisis: stressed, ashamed and confused over what it means to be a man in 2025. They vented about conflicting cultural messages of masculinity that put them in a “no-win situation around the meaning of ‘a man,’” according to the SAM project memo.

Young men like to talk shite, and ridicule things, and joke around with their friends…the democrats just gave them a HUGE target to do all of these things.
Once the men ridicule all these efforts, they don’t respect them and if they don’t respect them, they won’t follow/support them.
Plus they see all these “men” that are democrats and how they are a bunch of flappy pussies and don’t want to be associated with that party.

I guess since I turned 40 I'm not really a "young man" anymore, but never once in my life have I felt stressed, ashamed, or confused about what it meant to "be a man.
never.
Honestly I'm not sure I ever really gave conscious thought as to if I was "a man" or not. This is so ridiculous.

They don't want to be lectured to by fat disabled lesbians who bitch about white privilege or how having a penis shouldn't make a woman any less attractive.
Where's my 20 mil?

Young men have plans, aspirations and goals in life....anathema to communist ideology. Dems are content with young College brainwashed female progs and Welfare baby mamas and the undocumented voting bloc and old white men who have transitioned.

What is the funniest thing is they got Tampon Tim to carry this torch of being strong and manly. I hope he keeps it up. It's just more fuel to be laughed at like somebody on here posted before. I have a 19 year old Son so it is a fact.

Jeez, I hate language like this. It's part of the pussification of America.
Even when I was a young man in the early 80s I knew that none of them "cared" about me and I didn't expect them too. I expected them to work toward the betterment of everyone and the country in general. And back then they at least pretended to do that.
Don't frick things up and leave me alone. That's all I wanted then and all I want now.
They did this to themselves by spending years putting everyone in boxes and trying to pander to all the different demographics they created... Of course the only way to do that is by attacking other demographics.
Now they're fricked because they have to get THIS demographic to vote for them and they don't know how to do that without attacking another demographic...
20 mil and two years to figure out how to not attack people.
They will fail. Spectacularly and hilariously.

I remember when they first set out to study women. Their findings weren't as helpful as they had hoped.

I thought we've been throught this. The issue with the Democrat party is that they have to have studies to understand why they aren't reaching people. Once again that there isn't a collective genuine bone throughout the whole party. The issue is that they have to change their message to reach people, but are only doing it to reach people, they don't intend to change the party to actually fit the message. They just want to change the message to get votes, then they'll go govern the way they want, which isn't inline with the message they used. Snake oil salesmen.

They’re about 10 years late to the game, but running on unfettered abortion nationwide and trans “rights” understandably turns most men off. And quite truthfully, the Democratic Party has spent the last ten years vilifying men, especially white men. Therefore, unless they tone down some of the more radically progressive rhetoric, especially on culture issues, they have a steep hill to climb.
