Maybe like a small statue commemorating the history of where home plate was located.

Yea it was retarded. Very easy to lay bricks or something at home play and the bases in the parking lot.

I’ve always wondered if retarded people have self-awareness about their mental capacity? Will you please provide some insight.

Any kind of marker would have been nice but some of us do have our memories of that ole jewel! To those that are left that remember...just close your eyes and you CAN see Lyle Mouton's ball going over the green monster in centerfield or that time you almost got run over by the 6:55 freight train or hearing the 'Big Ragu' giving the umpires hell...see I told you how easy it would be...just close your eyes!

I’ve always said something similar to this. So many of us had memories there. It would be cool to walk it with my kids while on campus for a football game.

The smell of the hamburgers on the 3rd base side.
Early season games hot chocolate was on point. Skip got it right

Saturday double header with my dad

family of 4 general admission season tickets when u could set in “new” left field bleachers

Being that kid trying to catch a foul ball on the train tracks, but able to walk back into the game …

I could go on all
I have to do is look at that area today and I will always see the Box!

Probably not too late. It wouldn’t be impossible to figure out the location of home plate. I saw something similar done for an 100+ year old field that Babe Ruth played on. Surely somebody could figure it out with today’s technology. Unless there’s a building or something built over it.

I’m sure there are numerous surveys of that park that exists. At the very least, there are absolutely satellite images that are pretty detailed.

Why no marker?
Because it’s LSU.
They do everything half-arse.

Good call. And it should be done. This is common in MANY places. I’ve personally seen the following:

Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. It’s on the current Pitt campus. They still have some of the original outfield wall and a marker where Mazeroski’s walk off World Series home run landed.

Veterans Stadium in Philly - metal markers in the parking lot for each base, pitching rubber, and goalposts

Milwaukee County Stadium - replica field on site

Mile High Stadium in Denver - replica field on site

Comiskey Park - marker for home plate and painted base lines in a parking lot

Tiger Stadium in Detroit - there’s a new stadium on site for a small college and PAL. It’s the same dimensions, has the flag pole in center, and old Tigers artifacts on display.

There’s also plaques and markers for Busch Stadium and Riverfront Stadium.

They should have left the chain link fence with the big hole in it. So you could mess around on the train tracks when the game got boring, or retrieve the cup ball on a homer.

I kind of remember this. I parked in that gravel lot a good bit when I was in school. What were the markers exactly?

I think the new Nicholson apartments cover that area now.

I remember standing under the oak tree that was near the ticket window trying to finish my drink before the start of every regional.

There is a plaque where the old Yankee Stadium was located in the new stadium parking lot.

There is a plaque where the home plate was and also a marker where Harmon Killebrew hit a home run in the Mall of America in Minneapolis.
