EBR Sheriff Sizes Chad Hughs property: (City Bar)

EDIT: It looks like the Advocate was quick to jump the gun and incorrectly listed multiple properties being seized when in fact it was City Bar and not his other properties. They have since changed the article to only note City Bar being sized.
I am leaving the original post/quotes from the original article.
It looks like Chad is back in then news for not paying what he owes. This time he didn't pay the US SBA $1.8MM he borrowed in 2020. This is on top of the $1.9MM he owed Hank Saurage (which he also borrowed in 2020).
How do people keep getting involved with him?
And in typical Chad Hughs fashion, he says he knows nothing about the seizure:

quote:
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's office seized three properties belonging to restaurateur Chad Hughes, owner of Bengal Tap Room and Var's Pizza, after he failed to repay a U.S. Small Business Administration loan.
quote:
The court ordered on May 2 that the properties be seized, and used to pay Fund-Ex Solutions Group, a non-bank lender to small businesses, in the amount of $1.9 million. That sum includes the principal of a loan Hughes took out in 2020, along with interest and legal fees, according to court documents. Hughes used the properties to secure a $1.8 million loan
And in typical Chad Hughs fashion, he says he knows nothing about the seizure:
quote:
In text messages, Hughes said he was not aware of the seizure notices and that he is currently occupying his Highland Road residence.
"I am here right now cooking dinner for my kids," he wrote. "I can assure you it's not been seized."

Just checked court records and can assure you that a seizure order has been issued for a property on Burrow Road.

How does this work with the restaurants? Are they now closed?

Good question, especially since I'm sure he has co-owners and partners for most or all of these.

Unless they want to keep losing money, Var's will definitely be closed, easily worst pizza I ever had

S&G is far worse and it’s been there for years

Now many knew rates would inevitably go up and were using these as cheap capital, knowing they'd pay them back once that happened. Chad did not get that memo, don't be like Chad.

Nothing in that articles mentions anything besides City Bar being seized

It looks like the article was updated and just City Bar was seized.

They have since updated the article:
quote:
This story has been changed since it was first published due to an editing error that incorrectly listed which property had been seized.
I edited the title and put and edit disclaimer in the OP. The Advocate journalistic integrity has been long gone. It was literally the main story on their website this morning and it appears to be mostly incorrect.
