Seriously, why?

Classless as f**k and uncivilized. Saw so many people doing it last weekend on the water.

Is it that fricking hard to just throw it away somewhere on the boat????

I saw my neighbor across Bayou Terrebonne step on to his shrimp boat and throw unopened cold drinks in the water, grocery bags, and cardboard boxes. And he lives on the damn bayou.

I’m not sure what the answer is, but for intentional littering like that, there should be a very stiff penalty/fine.

For many people in LA, littering is a big problem. It’s one of things that’s really annoying to see when I come to visit.

If anyone litters in front of me...it is automatically a tainted perception i have of them.

By far one of the most indecent, selfish, laziest, annoying things someone can do.

Yea 100%. i just dont get how the ones who are on the water (some deck hands, some fisherman) can just disrespect the very resource that they make their livelihood on

The worst was when i was in venice and the guy i went with littered quite literally every single thing he didnt have a use for. Beer cans, plastic casing, an entire cardboard bait box. i was an invited guest and stayed for free and didnt have to pay gas so my young naive self didnt say shite. I was seething and gritting my teeth. i was praying green jeans would have fined the shite out of him.

had that have been my boat, i would have went nuclear on him and turned around and dropped him off at the marina regardless of how much they were biting.

People fricking suck man

100%. If someone litters they're trashy and low IQ.

Not to beat up on Louisianians, but the litter in yall's state boggles my mind when I'm there. It's surreal.

Unfortunately it’s all too common here. Selfish arse people.

They only take pride in the natural environment when it’s time to exploit it

I live on the main highway in Folsom, and it’s crazy how much trash I have to pick up that people just toss out the window. So many trashy people.

When I was a kid I lived 1/2 block from a Mom & Pop corner store. I can't tell you how many times I saw people buy a soda and a bag of chips, ask to have them put in a paper bag and once outside the store, remove the chips and soda from the bag and just toss it on the ground.

Why get a fricking bag in the first place?

My first wife was from Dallas and I hated to return to N.O. after a week or so in Texas. The litter was one of the first things I noticed driving back into N.O.

It really pisses me off, especially when you're a mile deep in the woods enjoying nature and come across a pile of beer/vienna sausage cans.

BHA gets a lot of crap (rightfully so in many cases) but they do a few trash pick ups on WMAs every year. I was talking to one feller and he said they picked up 11 bags of trash at one boat launch.

Another item that people are happy to throw out their window.... usually at a red light, is a fricking cigarette butt!!!

Hate 'em, can't stand and I've been "smoked" several times for NOT picking them up during "police call".

If you ever drive over the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, look under the spans. There is more shite thrown from vehicles than you can imagine. This state could probably pull itself from its financial woes if they simply enforced littering laws.

It'll never happen.

Dude, don't get me started. My gf and I walk in our hood with a plastic bag nearly every week day and pick up trash. We almost always fill it up. We can see the "new litter" and there are apparently several alcoholics that chug minis and beers and just toss them out of their car while doing their daily activities. People throwing their fast food bags out of there windows. frickin dirty diapers. Cigarette smokers apparently think that throwing their butts on the ground doesn't count as litter. Yesterday I picked up an exploded glass beer bottle that someone chucked out of their window onto the sidewalk.

We live right by a boat ramp so I am assuming a lot of it comes from assholes that are putting their boats in. We did a sweep of the boat ramp parking lot yesterday and its amazing to me how many people will litter when there are literally trash cans all around them. People just don't give a shite man. Its hard for me to fathom the lack of respect required to litter like people do. It infuriates me.

i remember i was in Estes Park CO. Cool little mountain town. scenic river that runs right through the town and clear clean water.

could not ever happen in LA.

i think the OB and the granola munching hippies there can agree that littering is one of the most unsightly trashy habits someone can ever have

The most trash I have ever seen in my life was in the basin after I visited my kin in Lafayette. It had rained that whole weekend, and going back home over the bridge, there was a diabolical amount of garbage that had collected all along the bridge. It was awful to see.

Yep, and people there will chew a litterer out if they see it. I wish there was more of that here, but you have to worry about some imbecile pulling a gun on you.

dont even get me started on the commercial fisherman who i have seen just dump an entire thing of engine oil in the bayou.

i will guarantee you that they could not ever fathom what a hydrophobic substance is and how that substance is lipophillic (gets in fat tissues of sea life) and ultimately harms everything including them.

People in LA sit there and scratch their heads wondering "why does colorado / iowa have such strict hunting rules, regs, limited tags, draw hunts?"

It is because of the General public of this state.

Residents of MO generally do not have positive things to say about LA hunters going up there to hunt. Littering being a reason

Yeah I went with a guide in Venice and brought he and the deckhand breakfast. They ate it while heading down the river. As soon as they were finished threw the styrofoam box straight up in the air and kept rolling. Trashy as hell
