The biggest problem is how quickly they call for “lightning delays” in college baseball. One lightning strike 8 miles away and they delay 30 mins… it’s a bit ridiculous

Till you get hit by it..

Not all storms are the same to have a random arse time stamp on a delay

How conductive is aluminum exactly?

Is the 8 mile/30 minute only when the NCAA is calling the shots because it seems like this happens way more in the tourney than regular season.

The regionals are always frickin miserable because the NCAA is running the show.

So waiting in the parking lot for 8 more hours really reduces your risk?

Sad historical fact:
There used to be a semipro league in New Orleans that played its games at Audubon Park -- the Audubon League, a mix of high school seniors, college players and random still-hanging-ons.
In summer of 1966, Fred Barocco, 18 years old, was standing on second base when lightning struck and killed him instantly during an Audubon League game.
It happens. Lightning is scary.

Written like a child living at home with zero responsibility to players or fans.

There are big fricking lightning rods that are used to illuminate the field.
Composite light poles too?

Was this ever a big problem? I don’t remember lighting delays as a kid. And never remember it being an issue.
