Was watching this and my 11 year old who apparently pays closer attention to detail than I do noticed the boys are swinging new bats. Guessing it’s that time of the year for the new models to come out.

Does anyone know if LSU is the first to get them and try them out? CJJ looks a little giddy about the hotness around the 1:00 mark.

Seems like a bad idea. The bats get hotter the more you use them.

they won't use bats that are brand new for first game of regional. im sure they have staff that has some kind of device or routine they put the bat through before the player even swings it.
or
they just use the shite out of them before the game. they will be broken in ,in some form

It’s called rolling. I’m almost positive that’s illegal.

Depends on if it's alloy or composite. Alloy bats should be hot brand new where as composites will get hotter with more use.

Hell, just invite a bunch of students to go to the batting cage with them. I'm sure you could find enough baws in the student body that played decent enough in HS to give those bats a wring out.

Wrap it in a beach towel and swing it against a tree of few hundred times

That was the first gen of the bbcore bats made of carbon fiber. All aluminum bats and new carbon bats are easier to break in and don’t have nearly the effect the first ones did. Plus all of those carbon bats have a lifespan that with someone like Jared would last a few big daddy hacks before it’s in pieces

I’m not sure at what point in the season last year but some of them started using the CatX2 in games. (I feel like it was SEC tournament time but I could be mistaken)

I don't think any of those are actually new bats, just looks like guys may be swinging something other than their gamers but no actual new releases. They might always swing those in practice.

Just watched further in it does look like there is an Unreleased bat being used whatever it is with the green handle. Like others have said with aloy bats break in doesn't matter and if it's composite I'd bet they have swung these enough to break them in in the cage.

This is false. These bats have aluminum barrels, which do not “break in”. Alloy barrels are the same out of the wrapper as they are on the 1,000th contact.

Composite barrels break down over time.

Changing an aluminum bat mid-season isn’t that big of a deal. It the bat feels good in your hands and gives you added confidence at the plate, then go with it.

Batting performance depends on excellent hand-eye coordination and well-timed swings.

Jared Jones said today that "some guys" are/may be using "new bats" this weekend.

They were definitely NOT broken in at Hoover.

Didn't use any new bats in Hoover then again they wouldn't have made a difference.
