Is the MSB ready?
quote:
Major League Baseball is purchasing an equity stake in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League, partnering with the fledgling league that is preparing for its first four-team season and plans to expand in future years.
With women's sports revenues now in excess of $1 billion per year, the imprimatur of MLB helps establish the AUSL as a viable long-term entity in a sport that has seen multiple professional leagues fold. MLB's stake in the AUSL is more than 20%, a source told ESPN, and the league will assist the AUSL in marketing and content distribution in addition to the financial component.
"It's a watershed moment for pro women's softball, pro women's sports," Athletes Unlimited CEO and co-founder Jon Patricof told ESPN. "This is a financial investment but also about a number of things that money can't buy."

Is the MSB ready?

Yet they’re so worried about money that I can’t watch a fricking game on tv.

Softball is actually a pretty good product, because unlike most sports, it differentiates itself from its male counterpart. If the WNBA can exist, idk why this wouldn't work with MLB support.

Been hearing adverts about their season starting here in Wichita in a couple weeks. Seems like an interesting product honestly. Softballs one of the few women’s sports I find entertaining to watch.

Would much rather than this than wnba.

They'll execute Slappers and Bunts way better than WNBA does Layups..and the ratchet factor will be practically nil.

remember the silver bullets, the female, pro baseball team.
i wondered, who are these ladies playing to be winning games, and some times, winning by multiple runs.
so the announcers are trying to sell the bullets hard, but had to admit, the team they were playing was volunteer fireman, police officers, and construction workers from that local town. And those scrubs took the ladies to the woodshed, the 1b for country folk was like 350lbs easily.

They had the guy running this idea on the Today Show or something this morning..
The hosts were tripping over themselves to ask the guy, "this is great and all, but why not promote women in actual baseball?"
This poor guy has to conjure up this bullshite answer about "infrastructure", "equipment", etc..
Instead of just saying "women playing baseball would suck just like women playing basketball"
