Common sense says the only solution to the Ukraine War that America could achieve is:

-Ukraine cedes whatever territory it has lost or the US immediately ceases all aid. And
-Any further Russian advance will trigger whatever American assistance is necessary to repel that advance

Do you think Trump really thought the War could be stopped on Day One of his Presidency? If so, what changed?

Did he just miscalculate? The only leverage (stopping aid) we have is over Ukraine.

My hope was that he would just turn off the money/weapons spigot, but he has gotten emotional/irrational the last few days and seems to be threatening to escalate. This is not what I voted for. I'm sure it's all 8D chess, though.

Yes.

I sure he made the assumption that Z and NATO were ready to stop the killing. But apparently that assumption is wrong. They love the killing.

Nothing will happen as long as he keeps Keith Kellogg around.

What's the pro-Trump explanation for the failure to end the war on Day One?

“Day One“

It’s always figurative speak, not literal.

Why do people pretend that they don’t understand?

Why promise all this shite he can't deliver? At some point, people just tune out on the bluster.

I'm no political mastermind, but I would honestly feel safe in assuming that a small, vulnerable country at war would be eager for said war to end.

At some point, it looked like Z might have felt that way, too... then BoJo and others got in his ear and turned his head.

I don't know if, even in the best of circumstances, Trump could have literally checked that off his Day One to-do list.

I **am** confident that the war would not have started under his presidency. All the best wars are the ones avoided and Trump was/is actually pretty daggum good at that.

I doubt he had any real concept of the conflict when he spoke off the cuff about it. He was just talking shite like he does, nothing more or less.

It was pretty clear that he was speaking literally:
"Elected officials are often accused of not keeping campaign promises, but Trump's rhetoric has set new standards of optimism. He said in May 2023 he could end the war in "24 hours"—and told a rally in June 2024 he could end the conflict even before he entered the White House."

Everyone knows Trump exaggerates. At the same time, Trump also gets results.

You tards act like every president in history has fulfilled every campaign promise. Most of the time they dont even try to keep their promises,

Trump has worked extremely hard to end the war, he has kept us informed all the while.

I would never have ill will toward a man that does his best and due to conditions outside of his control, has not yet succeeded.
