Retton, 57, was charged May 17 with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances or drugs, according to magistrate court records.
A judge gave Retton a $1,500 personal recognizance bond, court records state.
Retton made history during the 1984 Summer Olympics when she won the all-around gold medal in gymnastics, becoming the first American woman to accomplish the feat. She also won two silver medals and two bronze medals during the Olympics.

Yes, during Covid. Her daughter opened up a Go Fund Me page in order to pay for her hospital bills. I remember watching an interview (maybe YT) where she mentioned that she got stuck paying for her hospital bills because she "could not afford to pay monthly health insurance".
That being said and looking back at here successful career, I get the impression that she was not good with money management.
