Is there anything that screams “I’m horrible with money” louder than living in a trailer while also owning a $40,000 or more camper and a $40,000 or higher boat? I just shake my head when passing trailers with these in the driveway. Bonus points if they have a brand new $55,000 Dodge Ram to pull it all. If you live in a trailer, perhaps you should be saving money to build or buy a brick home somewhere instead of pissing away $3,500 a month in monthly 10% APR notes on these toys.

Yeah, keeping your housing payments down is a terrible idea.

Dude probably has no mortgage and would rather have cool toys than a big house he doesn't need.

It’s not about that, it’s about having too much money in things that go down in value. You can’t build wealth that way.

His money- why should you give a shite how he spends it?

I wish more people would take the advice from the TV show “Running Point”

“If it dosen’t concern you, it shouldn’t concern you”

Been shopping myself, the market is disheartening. Looking at 60k plus for anything used thats reliable and decent.

Keeping your net worth down is a good idea?

Buying things that deteriorate in value…live and let live but good to also balance assets that generate value and those that destroy it.

Uncle retired 20 years ago from Exxon. Has a very sizable bank account since he never married or had kids.

Retired to a sub 500 sq foot shack in the bayou with a half million dollar boat paid off in full to go offshore fishing until he died a few years back.

Different strokes for different folks.

Running out to the rigs to fish with him when I was younger was a frickin blast.

Its just part of the culture here. Everyone has a boat in their yard. Some under tarps in winter, no one complains.

.mobile homes are the bane to American (primarily the Siuth) society.
It just encourages laziness and the throw it away mentality

More than likely a single guy who works in O&G and is away from home a good bit so doesn’t need a big expensive house and prefers to enjoy free time camping and fishing

Maybe he doesnt care about having a big house in a fancy neighborhood. I do and I’d gladly trade it for a houseboat on the lake. We’ve been too busy keeping up with the Jones’s, 4 car garage and we’re still building on.

Who says he’s not stacking his money in other ways? And even if he’s not, why do you care? Must be nice having zero problems of your own and having played life perfectly since you were born.
