Wife (no pics) and I are going to L.A. in July for 4 days. Not familiar with the area at all. Looking for a safe place to stay that’s easy to get around from. Looks like that might be West Hollywood area? Maybe Santa Monica? Any advice is appreciated.
We are going to see a Dodgers game, Venice Beach, & will do a studio tour. Any other tips on must sees or thing to avoid?
TIA

LA is generally safe, especially for anyone that lives in a city in Louisiana.
West Hollywood, Bev Hills and Santa Monica offer good accommodations
I would add the Getty, a drive through Griffith park and observatory, good food is everywhere if you do the homework

We've stayed at the Sofitel in West Hollywood & enjoyed it. The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills is great as well

Can’t go wrong with the West Side-Santa Monica, Westwood, West Hollywood. Take a walk around the UCLA campus. Royce Hall is the most filmed college building in the history of TV and movies.

Stay at the Huntington in Pasadena and spend as much time as possible in the hotel.

LA is so spread out that you’ll definitely want to stay in the touristy spots like Santa Monica/Venice Beach. And you’ll need a rental car for sure.

Schedule a bike tour for the first full day. Get to see a ton of the neighborhoods and enjoy the weather.
We did a private tour that started/ended at our hotel in Santa Monica. Highly recommend that

It really just depends on what you enjoy doing. What i like about living here is that there's a bazillion different things to do. There's something for everyone. I would def avoid all the tourist traps like Hollywood proper. If I'm in a beach mood I'm going to Hermosa or Manhattan Beach and avoiding the sketch of Venice and SM. They just reopened PCH so may be worth a drive up the coast.
Just think of things you like. Stand up comedy fan? The Comedy Store regularly has the best comics out there and is always a good time. Movie buff? Hit up the Vista or New Beverly theaters (they are both owned by Quentin Tarantino). Into cars? There's the Peterson Automotive Museum. These are just examples. What do you like to do for fun in general? Dodgers game is a good call! Check on who's playing the Hollywood Bowl.
There's an endless amount of things to do here. Happy to help if I can.

We sent 2 kids to USC and one still lives in L.A. so we go there 3-4 times a year. We've enjoyed AirBnbs in Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica and Culver City. Downtown Culver City is a gem. Santa Monica beach. Go to the Getty Museum. Getty Villa is nice too but the building and views from Getty Museum are extraordinary. Free and parking is easy. Hike Runyon Canyon.

L.A. is massive! Looks like we have to stick to a certain area most of the day.
Could you go to the Peterson Automotive Museum and La Brea Tar Pits Museum in the morning, do a studio tour (looking a Warner Bros.) in the early afternoon and hit up the Griffith Observatory late afternoon/evening on a Saturday?

Geographically it’s doable but it’s probably too much to jam into one day.

The street tacos in L.A. are amazing.

Mondrian in West Hollywood is great....Sunset Marquis is fun both right in the middle of everything.
The Getty is a must see.....shopping in the Melrose district......Venice is fun but lots of homeless and crazies.....I would say drive out the PCH to Malibu but that area got devastated in the fires.....
