Root for Southern Miss over Coastal Today

If they win today I think they host around 14-16. There’s not a ton of “strong” 2 seeds this year when you take out SEC teams but USM is a sneaky club that could trip up a better team with their deeper pitching which plays into LSU’s weakness.
Would they get sent to Ole Miss, FSU, or Tennessee? They could but you never know.

They are hosting. Look at their record. Haven’t lost in over a month (18 game streak) and will destroy Coastal. You don’t want to be paired with them in a Super or have them as a 2 seed.

Obviously but at the same time it helps to not have a streaky team in your regional

I wouldn’t go that far. I would say Ole Miss has some excellent pitching as you observed yesterday as well as Vanderbilt. Then if you look at southern miss, you would be shocked on how great they are. They may not throw 100 but they are really really good. It’s not a fluke because they’ve always been really good in pitching.

Ole Miss has Elliott, but give me BOTH Eyanson and Anderson over him this season. The rest of their staff is good, Maddox specifically, but not better than Evans, Shores, Noot, and Cowan.
Southern Miss’s Ace is legit. Their core is also very good, but none have a sub 3 ERA and they play in the Sun Belt.
Vandy’s main 2 starters have over 4 ERAs. ERA isn’t everything, but if you’re taking them over Anderson and Eyanson I think you’re crazy. Their bullpen can match up with LSU’s though.

No. My comment was to the comment “it’s not close”. I take exception to that. Southern Miss has an 18 game winning streak and you don’t do that by slugging your way to that. They experimented early with their pitching a lot early in the season until they found the formula. Ole Miss has been coming on for a while.

Pitching is fine as we know but our bats are as frustrating as they have been in quite a number of years consistency wise.
Have a feeling we have a couple guys who will either be moved or transfer if they don’t get their acts together at the plate.
Milam is at the Top of that list.

Dude they have beaten Arkansas st., Troy, ULL, App st. not saying they are not legit but how many of those teams are legit top 25?
If LSU can't beat teams like this they don't deserve to be in Omaha. Let the road go through Alex box so LFG!!!

Their league will have 3 bids minimum in the tournament. They also beat MSU and others.
They have won 40 games for 8 or 9 straight seasons including going to multiple Super Regionals.
