About to head to the IMAX tonight for the first showing. Let’s hear what everyone thinks! Who’s with me?

Got out of it a little while ago. It was a nice sendoff and had some nostalgia moments. Won't give away any spoilers and the stunts Tom Cruise performs are insane. I liked it. Predictable in spots. Surprise characters are mentioned. A little more clarity on other characters was good.

I liked it .

Solid action sequences

One thing I noticed is they make a direct effort to place females in positions of power and strength

The aircraft carrier commander/then 2 plane pilots/ the butch jacked sports bra wearing chick who pulls him from the ocean

I couldn’t unsee it at how hard they wanted to get some more females in the movie

Hayley atwell is absolutely stunning. Like she’s naturally beautiful and doesn’t have to try or need a bunch of makeup and help

Saw in DBox today and we enjoyed it insanely. It matched fallout in non-stop action and sequences in my opinion.

I disagreed with the mistitled “saw the final reckoning” thread. If you liked Fallout this is just up the same alley.

My biggest complaint is that the villain went from quiet and menacing the last movie and first half of this one to a bit of a caricature with bad one liners and maniacal laughing in the final sequence.

Just kinda dumb in an otherwise well paced movie.

ETA: I have a graduated senior leaving for being a counselor all summer long and I took a half day to take him out to the movie and out for BBQ.

When they asked if I wanted to leave late and miss previews, I said absolutely not. Cruise brings it every movie and I want to be there when he thanks us for coming to the movies and the crazy SOB did not disappoint.

I know it sounds retarded, but I know that the out of touch Hollywood elite really does appreciate people coming to the movies and appreciated his fans. I truly want the guy to receive an Oscar before he dies. He needs to hook up with Nolan or Villanueve before it’s too late.

Whatever his politics and weird Scientology beliefs, the man is absolutely dedicated to the arts and making big scale movies . I give him mad respect for that.

The burden he feels he must carry from Maverick on through these mission impossible movies, you can see how badly he wants them to succeed and for the cinema experience to continue and not die with streaming apps at home

Yeah when I saw his shutdown of the media trying to bring up unnecessary politics recently it reminded me that he could be far left elitist , but he seems to genuinely just love making good movies.

What a ride… one of the shortest ~3 hr movies I’ve been to, just great pacing and action. Agree with everything above, but I did really enjoy the sub sequence. They gave us the plane stunts leading up to release…. But I found the sub escape sequence more fascinating.

I didn’t even touch the sub sequence above. It was probably the most intense 20 minutes of MI ever made. Amazing tension.

That being said, outside of the rightfully forgotten MI2.. the most unrealistic. Not to spoil but there an absolute impossibility to him surviving the scenario in which he escaped.

I just got home from seeing the movie. Cruise never disappoints. The movie definitely leans into nostalgia from the previous films, but it does support the storyline. Enjoy it everyone because Cruise is probably the last of the true movie stars. The man puts everything into these films, and it shows.

First off, I’m all for strong female leads. T2, Alien(s) and more recently (to me) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind are among my favorite movies of all time. I really enjoyed the new Twisters and Kate was a wonderful character. But it did seem like an intentionality on their part to emphasize it in a relatively short sequence of events. All of them you listed, and I’ll add the speaking/lead role of the marine that escorted him to the helicopter. I didn’t even mind Angela Bassett as President, although the female aid had a strange presence.

That being said, although it was obviously intentional, it wasn’t as out-of-place as this:

I don’t think I noticed it till you mentioned this but I guess it’s correct.

That being said, Hannah Waddingham and Angela Bassett both have the screen presence to pull of their roles well.

It was intentional but it also wasn’t forced or distracting like the Marvel one above.

Really looking forward to this. Dead Reckoning went on I think 30 mins too long trying to make all that AI shite look more threatening. Hope it doesn't have an unnecessarily long run time

Oh for sure

I rarely can make it through a 2 hour movie without having to pee thanks to the large coke I drink during the movie… I peed during one of the trailers right before it started and honestly never thought about it until the movie ended.

This one has much better pacing and never really bogs down . It didn’t feel like 170 minute run time at all

Me too. Ilsa Faust was my favorite character in the whole series and she was a believable badass from the onset and it never seemed forced.

They did knock their roles out.

I thought Katy O’Brian did surprisingly well too. When I first saw her, I thought “oh boy, here we go,” based on her character in Mandalorian. However, this seems like a good type of casting for her and wouldn’t mind seeing her in something else with a similar character. Had some Vasquez vibes.

Did she just have something come up and need to be killed off?

Me too. He should have won one already. He's given some performances that were definitely worthy: Born on the Fourth of July, Rain Main (grossly underrated performance), Jerry McGuire, Magnolia, etc. Cruise is the last bankable movie star.

So freaking badass. But hopefully it is the last one, I want him to do other types of films before he retires.

Don’t know but it was a bummer because she had a great arc. I’m hoping she makes a comeback because she’s the perfect match for Ethan.

I saw him in a recent interview and he wakes up and starts working on projects. Definitely more of something to come. He’s a machine.
