Looked at his wiki... why do politicians spend their very last days in office?
I'll never understand this.
Being 75 and dying of cancer, many people would want to focus on time with their families and tying up loose ends.
Anyway... condolences to his family, friends and constituents.

Are we sure he has cancer. This sounds suspicious. Biden crime family, now this guy???

So does the governor get to appoint somebody to fill his seat?

That sucks. I don't understand why he wanted to die in office.
Is his district heavy blue?

Because it's essentially all they are
But your point is really valid on a more expanded level. It's somewhat telling about the actual lack of work involved in being a congressperson that they pretty much all take it to the Grave if they don't get voted out. Can we think of any other job in existence where people routinely take it to the Grave?

Exactly!
Wasn't there some politician in Texas that was in a friggin MEMORY CARE facility and no one even noticed?? EDIT: 81yr old Kay Grainger, that was the lady. Missed 6mo of votes and work and NoBody noticed.
Or how about Feinstein? That was blatantly, egregiously awful.
At least that asshoe McCain dragged his rump out of the hospital to do something (spit on his grave!).
I know there's far more examples, but yeah... it's wild.

It ain't just democrats, although they certainly have the juicier examples in recent times.
Must be nice to be a politician... all that money, power, influence.. and your only **real** job is to get reelected. And most don't even have to work hard for that.

They aren’t exactly great family leaders so close ties tend to be their office mates. Many actually have extremely tough relationships with their families

Probably and aid.
They like the Borg. The Dem reps never act alone. One big hive mind.

It's like none of these Dems speak for themselves. I don't mind staffers tweeting for Congressman, but I do not believe someone came to his deathbed to get approval before posting a tweet like it was his own words.
This wasn't soke form, informational tweet like the death announcement in the OP. This is something he's supposedly saying and clearly did not.

Not that it should be their sole motivator, but there is this:

Death gratuity... is it taxed?
My goodness they have all the perks, yet vaunt themselves as 'servants'.
